Horizontal all the way. The countless stories off scratched disks when having the Xbox upright have caused me to stay away from ever having it in the upright position.

When I had a 360, I kept mine horizontal, due to my GRAW2 disc getting scratched when vertical.

I had it upright for a while, then my dog tipped it over and fucked my DOA 4 disc. It's horizontal now. The xbox too.

Horizontal, for fear of toppling.
Plus it fits in the TV stand that way.

If we ever get a cooling stand it'll have to go vertical though.
Maybe it'll work on its side... I dunno.

It's in storage now so I wont have to worry about it until autumn.

I stand my vertically, it fits with in nicely between my tele and my desktop, so it cant actually topple, I've done this ever since I was playing on GoW and it scratched my disk while horizontal, I'm too scared to have it horizontal since.

Also, having it vertical allows for more air circulation.

Horizontal since it's the safest way. It barely ever scratches your disk in the horizontal position. the Vertical position just destroys the disk overall. :(

Horizontal.

Unlike the Wii, it didn't come with a sturdy, adjustable, non-toppling base, so there's really no reason to tempt fate with holding it erect.

lol I said "holding it erect"

...also, TL;DR. ¬_¬

I've had mine vertical since I've bought it and never have had any disc scratching problems.

I keep it horizontal. I prop it up with a box so none of the ventilation ports are blocked.

I keep mine horizontal because I need it to fit in between this piece of furniture that also has a T.V. on top of it.

I keep it horizontal. I've been told many times by people working at EB Games that you're supposed to have it that way.

I'm one of the few people that keep it vertical. The place I have it located at it wont topple and gives it room to breath and everything.

HORIZONTAL.

When I kept mine vertical, it scratched my discs.

But then I kept it horizontal. Discs were still being scratched.

Time for a new 360...

I love clever sigs.
THIS IS NOT ONE.

Horizontal, mainly because it's easier to store and it breaks easier vertical, and if it falls while in vertical, say good bye to your game.

Horizontal... I stacked up 3 PS2 games that I never played and placed the 360 on top of them so it balances without touching the floor. I then put a fan beside it to keep cool air blowing on it.

I do this to hopefully stop the overheating problem that is O-so common with the 360.

I had a lot of my games freeze mid-play when I had the system vertical

Horizontal on top of the 360 box.
Helps against dust, and I never have to worry about it falling.

I go horizontal with blocks of wood under each corner to prop it up and improve airflow.

Cons of Vertical:
Possibility of Scratched Disc
Possibility of Tipping-Over
Covering of Largest Vent

Overall horizontal is safer for your 360.

Mine was vertical for a long time, but I moved it to a different shelf and I could only set it horizontally. It may not look as cool horizontally, but it has a lot less chance of falling over (almost happened 9 times the other way), and it keeps CDs from falling (occured more than I can count).

NEVAR FORGET.

Yeah, it killed Gears of War and Forza Motorsport, and Eternal Sonata sometimes won't even play.

Play it horizontally. That will lesson the chance of getting the Ring, plus the disc won't fall out of the tray, tear up the system from the inside, and kill it.

My signature is unique in that it doesn't have any porn on it.
