By none other then the guy behind the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

I have hope for this one. I liked the first PotC movie (never got around to seeing the sequels though).
As long as they focus more on the story and less on the backtracking.

"Take-Two executive chairman Strauss Zelnick, who was in charge of Fox in the '90s, handled the deal for his company and says the project will actually get made ... unlike the Halo movie."

Good, the story was fucking amazing, although not entirely original in itself I still loved the characters.

A MAN CHOOSES, A SLAVE OBEYS

That's got to be the tagline.

The party's alright I might want to stop drinking

What were we talking about?

No matter how good it sounds FPS shooters will never get made into a good movie. Doom was a failure, and for games like Bioshock and Half-Life which have silent protagonists which you do not see in-game, make you cringe when you see some guy going around saying cheesy lines when he/she kills a headcrab or a splicer.

Now Assassin's Creed that would make a good movie.

You need a certain type of game that can be translated into another media, and an underwater FPS shooter is not one of those.

A Bioshock Movie doesn't sound too bad. I'm wondering how they are going to capture the "sisters". :/

That does sound pretty awesome. I only got around to playing a bit of the Bioshock demo, but I enjoyed it. I was expecting the game to involve some swimming-around or shit.

Movies -> Video Games = Failure
Video Games -> Movies = Failure

It's been twenty years, and many people have still not learned this basic principle.

...also, TL;DR.

17 or older.
I think it's similar to your "16+" in the U.K.

It is an easy thing to produce either way, because there is an established audience for the game/movie already. Easy profit without having to do as much, which is what the investors want.

Hell yes, that is an awesome game.

A Bioshock movie is interesting in theory, but I can easily see how it could stray in to Uwe Boll territory. However, Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect could be excellent movies if done right.

Why god, why.

The best this film can hope to be is a decent dose of fanservice. The kind of atmosphere that drives Bioshock just doesn't translate into film. Videogame to film translations are a Catch 22. The only way to make one good on any level is to take a complete 180 away from what the game is which alienates the fanbase that wouldn't have liked the film if it were true to the original in the first place.

I hope this shrivels up and dies like the Halo film.

I really liked the story of Bioshock.
Hopefully, this will have some good kind of twist as well.

This is probably the first VG movie that actually has a chance. Although I don't know how they could even hope to make a story stronger than the one in the game.

Oh God, that wouldn't make much of a movie IMO. I'm ripping my hair out just thinking of who will play the role of Atlas.

Bioshock was a great game and had a nice story with a good setting , with the director that made one of my favorite movie series , So looks like this might be good , pray to god that it Hopefully doesn't turn out shitty like Uwe bolls movies(Video games based ones).

That is great news! I hope it doesn't fall through like most of the video game based movies have recently, because Bioshock definitely has serious potential for a full length movie.
