I'm after a new internet connection and the main thing that seems to determine pricing is the download limit of each plans (you pay about 10 dollars extra a month between having a 5 gig limit a 10 gig limit or a 20 gig limit being a small city without Cable broadband).
So I'll be the main one using the connection and I have no idea how much I'd chew through in a month, I dont particularly torrent a lot of software and albums, perhaps a gig worth a month but how much would I use watching a ton of flash and streaming TV shows every third night or so.

depends on how much you download and view while you are on. 10gigs sounds safe but extra dough adds up .
pretty shitty service to limit your download. it's not like they are storing it for you or are they?
i pay for a bandwidth limit and it is set at 6mbps. i can download as much as my hdd can hold and not have to worry. you might want to look around for another ISP it wouldn't be too hard for them to say you went over your limit and charge you huge penalties. web pages add up and content now a days is huge and more media based. all those pictures and flash ads , this site alone front page is 100kb and this reply page is 30kb that adds up fast. especially in a month.

I just went from having unlimited downloads, to some pathetically small cap.
Spending 15 days throttled to 28kbps is not worth saving $30

ok. please tell me.

how one can float a 60GB cable cap, in 5 days, without downloading anything. like. no torrents or any of that shit. no pr0n dls either, so.

HOW THE FUCK DOES ROGERS GET THIS "OH HAI, YOU USED 60GB IN 5 DAYS" SHIT!?

and how do they measure our usage anyway =[

i need to fix the front page amount i said, it is 3.3mbs loaded, the html is only 100kbs but when you view the page it is downloaded to your puter @ 3,3013kbs and that definetly adds up.
when i was on a military base in Cuba we had download limits and i had a bill one month a $300 because i was using Winmx and had went over by a few hundred mbs. do what you feel works best for you but beware limits are made to be easily broken to maximize their profits. cell phones should have given you a taste of how they are going to try and do business.

I've got a 5g cap. It seems small, but I can usually make it most months just under the limit.

If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

The plans I'm looking at dont have fines if you exceed rather drop down to 64kbps from the 256 or 512. ADSL broadband is teh lames, they have limits since it doesn't have the speed and capacity of cable and gets held up more. You can only get unlimited where I live if you have a 128kbps connection.

The plans they have in your country must truly be a bunch of bullcrap. Move to Sweden, all the operators I know here have no download limits what'so-ever, and they even follow the right speed.

Two words, holy shit, followed by a phrase to further express my amazement over this incredibly high price! O_o

Did you even have the cash to pay that?

By what we download. Here's where idiots get confused though - downloading isn't just limited to torrents and pressing the little "download" links available on websites. It's anything that makes its way from a server or someone elses computer to yours. That includes MSN, every images/piece of text and file used to form a webpage, playing online games, etc., etc.
