Okay so I'm trying to get some videos with all manners of extensions on my iPod.

And because Apple is a huge fucking flaming faggot, even after I convert the files to .mp4 they still won't work.

I've checked the encodings and restrictions, mine all fit, they only play the first 5 seconds then go back to the menu.

What the hell am I supposed to do?

Oh god don't use that. Even allDJ makes a better converter. I use that. It works.

Here you go. It allows you to select your iPod model and converts all sorts of videos to the right format.

I'd get a better file converter, because that should work. somewhere along the way the files must be getting corrupted. If it comes down to it, you might just have to download the files off the iTunes library, which isn't fun at all.

If you're trying to convert DVD's to iPod format then use DVD Fab. It's only a trial though.

I've used it many a time on all sorts of file formats. You can even convert .flv videos you get from YouTube. So yeah, it's pretty much awesome.
