Respect music

The audio portal doesnt get the same amount of respect as the flash portal! In the flash portal their is rewards, contests such as pico day or madness day, and voting power in the flash portal can be way higher than voting poser in the audio portal! Not to mention that you don't get any credit for voting in the audio portal! I say the audio portal deserves more respect and recondition, so when people think of newgrounds the first thing that comes to their mind isnt always Flash!

Y'know, I totally never noticed that!!!

(The AP came long after the flash portal did, flash is much more popular, and this was created and maintained as a flash site)

This same thing was discussed no earlier then yesterday. Heres why.
If you did get expierence for Audio (Which isn't voted on nearly as much as flash, because flash IS more popular) People would just Either vote 0 for 5 submissions a day like 90% of the flash portal population, which is even worse, because there's no other population really voting (The FP gets almost 3-500votes before the flash is even blammed or saved) to raise that score back up, the last thing the AP needs is more incentive to vote zeros besides having no life.

I would be a BIT happier if there was a standard archive for best audio rather than jsut 30 submissions and Nothing after that point. A Blue "Awesome score" and green good score wouldn't work out to well either, There's too much leeway as to how many times that song can go back and forth between a 3 and a 5 when theres only 8 votes on it.

When the population gets much bigger, Than maybe it can get the respect it deserves, Until then we are stuck with what we got now.

I completely agree. The audio portal has little if any respect. I'm sorry but it's the truth.
The Audio Portal, from what I've noticed, has become more of a mad house over the past couple years. Everyone votes in their own self benefits. Which I think it terrible!
The flash community seems to have a better sense of knowing how to help one another.
Since the AP is still young, I don't think much if anything is going to be resolved soon. The AP doesn't have that many people behind it, as stated before only about 10% of NewGrounders actually are regulars in the AP. So until there are more people regularly visiting and staying in the AP area, the AP will gain more respect. Until then it's a mad house.

The audio portal was created for flash artists in the first place. The audio users have respect amongst themselves and that's really enough for me.

Awards and all the stuff that FP has would be nice ofcourse, but I dont really care.

But what I WOULD like to see is a collab-option for music-authors. Thats something the AP needs.

the portal odesnt get the respect it deserves because it doesnt deserve respect generally. There are millions of users that frequent the flash portal. They vote so much users scores go up .00000044 by one user - that would be suicide in the audio portal.

I couldn't agree with you more. I think that a lot of people complaining about the system just want to use the AP for their own selfish needs. I'm not saying that I don't want to see the AP become popular/the mirror image of the flash portal, I'm just saying that the audio regs are what makes the AP great, and the people complaining don't even try to mingle with the other regs.

Oh, and by no way am I targeting DaConvict here, I'm just stating what I think, and I'm not pointing out anyone for having this attitude.

One of the things that makes the audio portal great is how unpopular it is.
The more people it has the less you will matter. If it had enough "respect" real bands would come and post their music, and there would be no room for ng kids with guitars and fruityloops.

The audio portal ideally and in my opinion, is just for flash artists and fans of flash animations who happen to make music.
