Even though this thread doesn't seem to have much going for it, I'll stop by for a few minutes.

Good Covers... It seems like anyone who's covered a Pink Floyd song does it better than Pink Floyd did.

High Hopes, covered by Nightwish
Run Like Hell, covered by Kittie
No link, but if you can find the cover of "Waiting for the Worms" from the CD "Back Against The Wall," that was a damn good cover as well.

No sorry I disagree. His version is a little too slow and emphasises more sadness rather than the madness that the Tears for Fears track does.

Not sure how I skipped this one, but Stormbringer by Turmion Katilot, cover of Deep Purple's original, is fucking amazing.

Sadly, I think Tears For Fears disagree with us, as when I seen them in concert, they done his version. Albiet a bit more harder.

I'm going to bite the ultimate bullet and say Tom Sawyer by Mindless Self Indulgence. I mean, yeah, the Rush original is regal, but MSI make it exciting.

Being far less controversial, Tainted Love by Soft Cell, I Think We're Alone Now bu Tiffany (I think) and Stagger Lee by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

Check out Iced Earth´s A Tribute to the gods if you want good covers. Dream theater also covers the album Master of puppets well.

Well in Tear for Fears' defense, it is very much a multilayered track with several parts especially in terms of the numbers of synths (I counted at least 9 different ones in a quick run of the original,) used in it along with the amount percussion and the backing vocals.

In concert it is probably easier to take out many of the parts which would make it more like Jules' version.

I was still sad. :'(

Ther concert kinda sucked. usually I get a tee or something, but I got diddly-squat. They played all this new subpar stuff and then they pissed over all of their originals. The highlight of the concert was the black midget behind me.

Oh I would be too. If you need more synths to do it, get more. There can never be too many synths.

Yeah, I propose that as soon as iconic bands start sucking they should be banned from performing again untill they can show their former glory again.

One step closer to world domination. And on a synth note, I may be scoring a fully operational, original Yamaha DX-7 in a wee while.

Sweet! Once I get a fulltime, I'll repair my microKORG, but it's not looking likly that I'll get one. D:

The main thing putting me off a microKORG is the fact that every other man and his dog's got one. I prefer my stuff to be a little different.

Would you consider the version of The Ecstasy of Gold that Metallica did as a cover?

It's on Bloc Party's Silent Alarm Remixed album.

The Band Played Waltzing Matilda:
Eric Bogle's original.
The Pogues' cover.

The Devil Went Down To Georgia
The Charlie Daniels Band's original.
The Toy Dolls' cover. (Devil Went Down To Scunthorpe).

Dublin in the Rare Old Times
Flogging Molly's cover. (Rare Ould Times).

There's a few. I'd post some more, but I can't be bothered digging up videos. Basically, anything The Pogues, The Toy Dolls or Rancid covers.
