This is one of the slightly less bloody examples of how in world politics it is at times nessesary to be on the side of whoever's winning. It's ugly but true. That being said he should absolutly be removed from that list, just as a show of respect.

Well, he was not a totally peaceful guy you know. He DID lead armies and junk.
Hence why he is on the list

Yassir Arafat won the prize the very next year.

Freedom fighters are called terrorists all the time by the government and its allies. The British called George Washington and Mahatma Ghandi terrorists, when they resisted the occupation of the lands by the British. Although, the Apartheid government caused much more harm to civilians than the ANC ever did (Steve Biko murder, Soweto riots where schoolchildren were shot dead by military forces), Mandela opposed the brutal regime and sought to change the status quo, and is seen as a terrorist by the establishment.

Except that Mandela don't go around yelling "ALLAH ACKBAR!!!" and blows himself up, I see what you mean though.

Cause the ANC blew up stuff. Sure they were not the most bloodthirsty bunch of political groups, but they still committed acts of terrorism.

In recent times, the biased morons in Stockholm have been giving awards to people who really don't deserve. So what if he's won the Nobel Peace Prize? It no longer has any credibility.

It doesn't really make a difference at all whether he's on it or not...
He's just doing this for the publicity, probably.

I can understand that in a time and place, Nelson would be considered a terrorist. I can understand why it has tried to have been removed in the past, but i cannot understand why it wasn't done by now.

What?

The point I was making was that there is absolutely NO REASON for him to STILL be kept on a list like that.

Mayher Arar remains on the US terrorist list and no-fly list despite being completely cleared by both the Canadian government and the Syrian gov't to whom you shipped him to be tortured.
Interesting note, Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini were all nominated for the nobel prize at one point or another.

Just a reminder, try not use the Nobel Peace Prize in your argument since it's reputation have became meaningless just like the All-Star game. They both have meaning in the beginning until they became gradually tainted since you know the All-Star game never really measures how great the player is due to the fact that the player is in the roster due to mass voting.

There's not much of a reason to take interest in being removed from the list either. Wasn't he just living a completely normal, peaceful, quiet lifestyle before this?

"Efforts have been underway since the Reagan administration to remove the terrorist label."
Wow, the US gov has been debating this for 20 freakin years? Apparently this removing of a title is as important to the US as I'm sure it is to Nelson himself. Like the article even says, do you think he (Nelson) will even notice?
Injured Workers rights were taken away in the 1920's by an insurance company (WCB), it's high time we got them back.

More like the flunkies in charge of that list are too lazy to update it. Like you say, Mandela doesn't care enough about being on that list to raise a stink so nobody in the U.S. cares enough to wade through the red tape to take him off it.
Everybody has to realize that the government is run by normal people care about their job as much as anybody would care about flipping burgers.

It's true - in the 60's, Mandela was considered a terrorist. Tony Benn got pillored in the press for supporting him, which today sounds almost unthinkable.
