http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flashcs3 /using_xml_as3_pg1.htm

http://uk3.php.net/xml

Use php to parse an xml file outside of the website document root then pass the results to flash as xml.

Honestly, that took about 2 seconds with google.

Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.

Then use XML with AS2 and learn grammar?
You use XML almost the same way in AS2 and AS3 so just read up on XML usage in AS2 instead of AS3.
You could save yourself some trouble, and humiliation, if you just search google before asking the same question ten times in a row...

SO you want to send data to a PHP file which writes it to a XML file and not use PHP? That's impossible...

Anyway,
First result on Google:
Using an XML file with Flash
That article uses ActionScript 2 and how to read XML without PHP.

When I searched for "php read write xml to flash" on Google I found this (second result):
http://www.tupps.com/flash/faq/xml.html#
4-D

That might help you to write to the XML file.

It is possible.

Look up loadVars to contact php from flash.
Look up XML + PHP to know how to write to the XML file.
Don't come crying here when you get hacked because this isn't safe.

It is not possible.

no, hes making the distinction that he cant use php+mysql. he has said on SEVERAL occasions that he wants a php middle layer. i may not like his attitude, but i understood perfectly fine what he was saying. you guys are the ones being idiots here.

now, if you would like to answer the question he asked instead of just screaming like a bunch of kids, perhaps now would be the time. OP, look up loadVars for communication between flash and php, and then you can use basic file writing techniques or an xml library for the php+xml. then you can aggregate the data directly into flash using the XML and XMLNode classes in actionscript.

Bullshit.
He constantly comes and says "Hi, my host woin't let me have PHP so how can i make a log in system with just flash, xml and javascript" and everytime we say, "You need a language such as php to help with it" and everytime he says "No, can't do that, how else can i do it?????????"

Sure i've got impatient, but that's all he evr asks :/

Just out of curiosity, why does flash have to send any xml? If flash can do it, it would be better just to send each field as separate post variables and allow php to to write them to the file.

Flat files would be good if he's only managing a few fields. If he adds more features, it will be easier to maintain with xml, depending on what features he's adding. Of course, this system isn't going to be able scale well at all, so any discussion at this point is merely academic.

A login system with XML files and Flash will be all too easy to break through. Decompilers are widely available, so if needed, one could simply decompile and find all the XML files. Since you're using a free host, you might as well use a decent one, that has PHP and mySQL. *cough* superfreehost.info *cough*
