Has quickly climbed the ranks as one of my most anticipated games to come. I first heard about it in last months Game Informer. Rarely do I actually read previews to games, but this one caught my eye. It takes place in a totalitarian utopia, and the Government has control of all forms of communication. Enter: Faith. Faith is a "runner" for a rebellion organization that is hellbent on taking down the Government. Her job is to get messages from one person to another within the city.

The game itself is an open world "FPS", however it has very little "S" from what I've seen. To me the game seems so very fresh and intuitive, and reminds me a bit of a mix between Portal (as far as artwork, main character and some aspects of combat) and Assassin's Creed (as far as the platforming and open world aspect of the game), both of which I deeply loved last year.

Besides what I've said so far, here's a few links to sources. Trailer. Screens. First look.

All and all, a brilliant looking game with huge potential. If EA can pull this off, maybe I'll actually gain a bit of respect for them. This along with Spore could honestly be their saving grace as far as I'm concerned.

I was just going to make a thread like this, I saw the gameplay video linked up on neogaf
But whatever, I think DICE should stick to their PC roots

PSM3 previewed this, and I have now fallen in love with Mirror's Edge.

:D[= - Quite possibly the most epic smiley ever. Unsurprising, as it's made by me. :P

It definitely seems like it could be very awesome. However, it's a very easy concept to fuck up, considering how frustrating first-person platforming has been in the past.

I've got that feeling too, it will either be the most original and best game since GTAIV, or it will fail epically for having one limited concept.

If done well tho, I think this will be awesome

So looking forward to seeing my death via fall from 30 story-building in this game. This just might be a good 'un.

I love clever sigs.

They're releasing it for the PC also. The only people we have to blame about developers shying away from the PC market is ourselves. We encourage pirating, and a lot of us engage in it. You really can't blame developers.

EA makes alright games when "Sports" isn't slapped onto it. Besides, it's DICE that's making it, not EA.

This is why I think it will succeed, actually. We've had the experience at this point to learn from our mistakes, and I'm sure EA is funding the hell out of DICE, considering they're one of the main reasons (along with Maxis) that EA is so damn powerful now.

HERETIC. You can't judge that by one video, just as I can't judge it as the greatest game ever by one video.

Maybe, but simply throwing lots of money at the developer doesn't solve basic gameplay issues, and even the best FPS developers have had serious trouble when it came to platforming. Plus, I seriously doubt that EA truly appreciates any of the developers it owns.

No, but throw lots of money at a developer who can make quality games when given the time, and you of course have a brilliant game. I don't think you're giving EA enough credit honestly. They've been quite good about Maxis and Spore. Then again, for every Spore there's a Hellgate...

And for every Maxis, there's about 5 classic developers (Origin Systems, Bullfrog) who were bought and promptly shut down by EA, seemingly for no other reason than personal amusement. Though they're admitting now that they've made mistakes...I'm not too sure. I think they're only saying that to comfort pissed off BioWare fans, and to try to reassure the gaming community that the world won't end if they buy Take-Two.

And as for quality developers, even the highest quality developers have royally fucked up the first-person jumping puzzle. I have faith in Mirror's Edge, though. When the game is based around the platforming, as opposed to it being just one arbitrary sequence amidst a hail of bullets, I'm sure the developer's going to work out the controls much better.

However, though I won't be boycotting their games or rallying in the streets, very little will convince me that EA isn't actually just the Fourth Reich in disguise :)

Defies the charm of what I've seen from it. We don't need an Assassin's Creed clone, or any clone of any game for that matter.

I don't know, it takes a hell of a lot for a CEO to admit wrong doings. It's like a president admitting to the world his country has done wrong, it just doesn't go over well with the stock holders/citizens. I genuinely hope that EA can become a quality publisher for creative design in the video game market. Maybe then will I not be so skeptical about the gaming industry turning into two superpowers: Acti/Blizz and EA.

I have a control scheme in my head that would work out alright, for the 360 at least. If you notice in the trailer, there's blue, yellow, and red surfaces that she seems to be jumping off of. Could be very basic controls like that which is very easy to understand and very simple as far as UI goes.

However, though I won't be boycotting their games or rallying in the streets, very little will convince me that EA isn't actually just the Fourth Reich in disguise :)

Haha, fair enough.
