I can growl fairly decent... I'm still working on screaming though, I can't seem to get high enough to classify it as a scream without my voice breaking. And yes, I do growl properly... not just yelling as loud as possible like most people believe metal vocals are all about.
As for the vocal track... I'd love to give a shot... but I've got one nasty ass cold right now... so my throat is screwed up as is.
Yeah, colds suck. I had one over the weekend. I had plans on some vocal tracks for a new song too. Also do you do the breath in screams or do you just try and scream regularly? Personally with a breathed in scream I can go pretty high (when I'm fucking sick).
I CAN do the inward screams.. and yes... it is much easier to go higher that way... but I prefer not to, it's rather I'm not doing it properly, or I just didn't practice it enough... but either way... it fucks up my throat something nasty when I do inward screams.... That and it just doesn't "feel" right that way... I want to belt stuff OUT when I scream/growl... not breath in..
That and I don't wanna get into the habit of doing inward screams for when I'm playing gigs because there's usually a lot of crap in the air you don't want going down your throat when you're singing.
Currently... I'm messing around with the Melissa Cross method and sort of finding a middle ground between that and my personal scream/growl.
