I was looking at buying the regular bamboo, or the bamboo fun. It seems the only differences between them are: the bamboo has an eraser, and a mouse. Is the bamboo fun worth the extra money?

The eraser comes in handy, but isn't necessary, and most people don't even use the mouse.

Now I've never used a Bamboo but I'm saying this in my general experience. It's your call, the tablet is pretty much going to serve the same purpose no matter what and you're going to find your way around any one you get.

Good luck!

I got the Wacom "Bamboo" for $65. No mouse. Just the tablet, the stylus(with eraser) and a plastic holder for the stylus. Very nice. Pressure sensitivity was my only concern ( 512 levels), but for a beginner, I don't think I can tell the difference between pressure levels of 1,000 or more from the more expensive tablets.

You don't need another mouse. Don't pay for it. You only need to draw--just get the tablet.

I like my Graphire4. I find that the Bamboo is just the cheap family use tablet. Just get a Graphire4 or any other tablet off of eBay or something.

Eh, I got the graphire 4 a while ago, and it seems the bamboo is just the replacement family for said graphires.

If you're just drawing and doodling, and you're already used to using control Z, or
undo or whichever with your keyboard, then don't spend the extra money

If you want a little more advanced features, like the buttons at the top, or the eraser, which
makes the tablet just like a pencil more or less, then.. have at that then. Depends on you.

And, there is a BIG diffrence between 512 levels of pressure and 1000 some. (Trust me, I just got an intros.)

I never use the mouse or eraser, I just command-z everywhere.
