So why do you insist on trying to prove them wrong? These people have been studying math their entire lives. You all are lucky to have taken a few classes of it in high school and college.

Oh, and proof, btw:

x = 0.9~

10x = 9.9~

10x - x = 9.9~ - x

9x = 9

x = 1

Therefore, 1 = 0.9~.

I'd post something smart about how I don't believe 0.9~ equals 1, but that's my belief.

Come on, folks. If your panties are REALLY in a bunch over if infinity has a limit (infinity is a concept, you guys know. Theory/concept =/= fact), then I think it can be discussed in a mature way, instead of going "NO, YOU'RE WRONG. I'M RIGHT".
