Because in real life there's the possibility that the guy you're looking at is all hopped up on meth and PCP, or worse, isn't and will stab you with the knife he may or may not have in his pocket in order to more easily rob your wallet from you to buy more meth/PCP.

On the internet you're safe behind your glass screen to talk as much shit and be as wrong about everything as you like, because the worst that can happen is a ban from the particular website you happen to be frequenting.

It's not that hard to manipulate someone you've just met into being alone with you. If the person keeps walking, it's harder.

Well, it can be easier having a long conversation with a stranger online because it's easier to come up with things to say. You have more time to think, you can change your mind mid-sentence, and you can post a smilie face to avoid any situation.

If we had the ability to emote in real life it might be easier to communicate.
