I have a lot of questions about Sound Engineering.

At the moment i am working on the "Symphonic" style of music. Im basickly trying to do Soundtrack music.

I dont know exactly how to explain what it is that im looking for, but if i could get some tips on Sound engineering for symphonic type of music, that would be great.

Thanks,

Jamal Corrie

Well not much sound engineering is included in symphonic (or classical) styles of music (in my experiance), as you wouldn't expect to EQ a live orchestra, but if your using a sequencer to make classical music then you should remember to add a constant reverb to all the instruments and pan them as they would in a normal orchestra setup, if there is clarity problems them you should EQ them to make the frequencies clearer.. I think this is what your talking about, I'm not sure. Could you be more specific?

Well first, i dont know a living damn about Sound engineering. I only know the software im using, which is Logic Pro 8 atm. I dont know what EQ means, and i dont know what u mean by EQ.

What im trying to say is that my melodies are good, but the sound backing it up isnt. Like, i was just wondering if u can tell me what modulation, imaging, etc is.

EQ = Equalizing

It is simply used for different frequencies.
Low freq. for bass and high freq. for treble.

(that was simply put and pretty general. But you MUST know this things to make music)

Here's some beginner tutorials. They may be helpful. Using Logic Pro is kind of throwing yourself in the deep end, but once you've got it down you'll be able to make some good music.

EQ (equalization) is used to boost certain frequencies in sound.

Like say gettin' down with some Lil John in your Miata right? And you hear some faint bassline in the background, and you say "hey! I wanna hear some more 'o that!", so you hit up your radio and crank up the bass to 5+ and now you and everyone in your pro-dominantly white suburban neighborhood can hear that bassline.
