$5 for a key chain?
Surely you jest.
Sir,
We have had several ideas for how to respond to your comment.
Jeff suggested "Suck thy dick."
A pox upon ye.
Tom suggested "You're right, it should be $10".
Just because people will pay that much doesn't mean you should charge that much. Think of the kids, guys. Most of em buy your T-Shirts with their paper-route money.
I'll ignore both of those and get right to the heart of the issue. What do YOU think is fair for a keychain? Have you ever bought a keychain at a retail store before? I have, and not once did I see one of this quality for less than $7. Believe me, I checked. We know how finicky our users are.
I can't speak to the quality, obviously, but I assume that you're not fashioning them out of tinfoil. I guess I'll have to take your word that these are high-quality keychains.
But anyway, Newgrounds isn't a retail store - or at least it shouldn't be. Retail stores exist solely to turn a profit. Newgrounds is more than that. If you really need to charge 5 or 10 bucks for a keychain to keep the site running, keep these new sweet innovations coming and keep you guys out of the red, then that's one thing. But if you're getting these things made cheap by buying them in bulk, then why not keep them cheap?
But I'm glad you posted that comment, Jose and I were betting just how long it would be before someone complained that we were selling something for more than 50 cents. And lo, it was only 36 minutes after the announcement. At least we got it out of the way now, so thanks for that.
Glad to be of service.
