Its spelled Hostel, and that movie sucked. It was nothing, but non stop torture, and gore effects. Anyways In my opinion the best horror movie is John Keel's The Mothman Prophecies. Starring Richard Gere
Audition. It was the freakiest most disturbing movies I have ever seen (except 2 girls 1 cup lol). Anyway I recomend it.
Asking 'what is the best horror movie' is like asking what the best flavor of ice cream is - horror likes/dislikes are based too much on personal tastes to come up with one movie.
You get those who like gore, and will say one of the obscure, underground gore-fests or something from the Splat Pack directors.
You'll get people who like torture, who will probably pick one of the Saw movies.
You'll get people who the classic, 1950s horror, and will chime in with Nosferatu or the Screaming Scull
Personally, I enjoy the sagas - Halloween, Friday the 13th, Elm Street, etc.
But yeah - you can't possibly determine the best horror movie. It's too broad of a category.

*SPOILERS* (kind of):
The thing about Audition is, it's only scary if you don't know it's a horror film. It's most effective when people sit down to watch it thinking that the film isn't going to turn completely deranged in the last few scenes.

Lmao cannibal holocaust, good times. Turtle eating part always grosses me out a little for some reason, just cuz it's real and shit. It was a pretty cool and funny movie to me though.

thats the one where the chick pukes in some dish and feeds it to that no arms no legs guy that laps it up like a dog right?
i usually dont like JUST horror movies that take themselves too seriously. i prefer ones with humor. evil dead series is great.
I'll go with Nighmare on Elm Street [the first, mostly].
I love blurred lines in reality.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
The Shinning, Silence of the Lambs and Saw.
What can I say? I like serial killers flicks.
I prefer snuff films. The acting is much better.
