I always thought it was a joke or figure of speech when people said that that wine had anti-freeze
in it during the depression, but apparently it's true.

my toxicology professor started talking about how anti-freeze
has chemicals in it that really excite the taste buds because
they can act uniformly all four of the different type of taste receptors
you have, and no natural food items you're exposed to in day-to-day life can really do that.

what's interesting is that the chemicals that made anti-freeze so fuckin' toxic
have mostly been banned over the last thirty years to prevent them from getting into the ground water
-- so the stuff on the market right now might make you sick if you drink too much, and you could lose
your lunch if you drank like a full glass maybe. but it isn't non-toxic like stuff from the fifties.

since nobody knows this, you can FREAK PEOPLE OUT if you're at a party
and like "oh what can i mix this vodka with... how about anti-freeze" and you pull out a jug.
i've done this joke a few times now and people refuse to believe i'm actually drinking it,
saying that either i put gatorade in the bottle or didn't REALLY swallow or whatever.
it's funny as fuck.

just don't drink more than a couple shots worth in a night.

Great. Next time I feel like poisoning myself / turning myself into a complete imbecile at a party I'll try it.

Btw, my grandma is the queen of England. Yah.
