Anyways, the way I see it is: your two naming situations are different. For both those names, either one is fine, but the reasons for using different ones are different. If you say "Robotnik" instead of "Eggman," you have a love of nostalgia. If you say "Aerith" instead of "Aeris," you're an elitist Japanophile...and probably a traitor to this country :P
Also, from what I understand: M. Bison, Balrog, and Vega are THREE TOTALLY DIFFERENT CHARACTERS!!!
