It hurts me to say it, but it's true. Us Newgrounders are really the same person. We play guitar, are all on some extreme regarding education, are extremely sexist, racist, rude, and greatly idiotic. However, one positive aspect that seems to be all together forgotten, is that we are generally very good at computers and the internet.

As I am with my real life friends, I am amazed at their idiocy when it comes to technology. I compare them to our community here, and there is absolutely no comparison! We by far, oh dare I say it, pwn.

Thus, when I woke up this morning thinking about all the lesser-known websites you all must know that I don't know about, I decided to create this thread! In fact, I concluded that if we all posted links to sites we loved that are less known, we would all discover some great sites.

So NG, post links to less-known sites that you would like to share with NG!

----------------------------------------
----------

I'll start us off:

1) Free Rice - This is a site where you play a vocabulary game to donate rice to Africa. For every word you get right, they donate 20 grains of rice. This is made possible by the ads, so everything really is thought out. I think it's great that people are now using the power of the Internet to help people in need. Even the most apathetic of us will appreciate the site, because it actually will help your vocabulary. It even gages your vocabulary ability only to progressively (but slow enough) get harder.

2) According to Accordions - This is my friend's blog. He really is a great writer, and his thoughts on the world are truly inspirational. Definitely check it out!

3) Finale Music - Finale is a music company that creates music software that while very easy to use, is very powerful. If you are into songwriting and composing, I definately recommend their products. They even have a section of their site called the "Showcase" where you can post your music when you're done. So far, I've received three e-mails regarding my music, so it is definitely great for comments on your work as well.

4) English Wikinews - The news version of Wikipedia. The great thing about Wikinews, is that it's written by the people of all backgrounds - liberal, conservative, libertarian, authoritarian, and any other political spectrum you can think of. Because of this, the articles come out extremely neutral. I'd go as far as to say it's the most neutral news source I've ever seen.

5) Metacritic - This is a critique site that summarizes all the critics' opinions on a easily read page. And they have everything from books, to music, to movies, to basically anything else you could think of. They even link to the critiques so it is easy to see everyone's opinion and see where the consensus lies.

6) Ultimate Guitar - This is a much more popular site, but I'll still post it just in case there are newgrounders still in the bliss. This site has the tabs, chords, and bass tabs to basically any song you could imagine. Use it to learn your favorite songs, to play along with the recordings, or for practice to get better! Great guitar site.

----------------------------------------

So, now it's your turn!

Cardboard Fish SMS: Send text messages for free over the internet straight to your friend's phone.

The Film Machine: Absolutely fantastic DVD-burning software. Allows you to stick the subtitles (SRT) files on with it as well, and you can change the font and colour and shit of the subtitles if you want (great for me because I watch a lot of foreign films). Free software.

Open Office: Free office package. Works great.

No, it's not what you think. It's actually a site dedicated to old Superman comic book covers which can be easily misconstrued, especially in this day and age.
