Can someone help me fix this? 2008-04-19 00:26:47

ok, so I was just messing around with my sound setting and I guess I accidentally changed something because whenever sound plays, it sounds like its played in an enclosed area. It keeps echoing so much, and its driving me crazy. Can someone tell me how to get it back to nornal.
please note*
I use windows xp 2000
and no, I will not delete system32

You gotta give us more information than that.
What program are you using?
Were you using a VST?
etc.
Add any and ALL information you may think is important.

I'm using Realtek AC97 Audio with dual speakers.
and that's about all I know.
isn't there some way to restore everything back to its default settings?

how do I get to the mixer page?
because I think it had something to do with the volume settings. there are: Master Volume, Wave, SW Synth, CD/Video In, and Line in.
maybe one of them was changed.

Click the 'Advanced' button, and turn off '3D Sound', or whatever it's labeled as.
You may have to click around to find it, but that's what it is, I can almost guarantee you.

the advanced button only brings up a screen with a picture of my computer. theres nothing on it to click on.
but whenever I click on the volume button, it comes up with this weird screen where I can adjust all parts of the volume.

You (or the system automatically somehow) put on effects in the Realtek bundled software I guess. Look for any "mixers" and sound editors/tweakers installed with the drivers.

They can be any of the following:

* RtlRack for Windows 98/Me/2000/XP: 1.15.0.0
* AvRack for Windows 95/NT4: 2003.4.4.1
* Realtek Soundman: 5.1.0.59
* Realtek Sound Effect Manager(CPL): 2.2.0.73
* Realtek Sound Effect Manager(RtlCpl): 1.0.1.66
* Realtek Sound Effect Manager for NT4: 2.3.0.3

My bet would be the AvRack ...

Oh ... I might remember this wrong, but if you click your way into Control Panel, I think you will find Realtek audio control panel! There you must change "environment" to "none". I guess you got some presets like reverb or delay or arena going on.

yes! that's what I've been doing, all that I can click on is volune control, which brings up that screen,(which I posted a picture of) and this screen.

I cant give you any more details, as I uninstalled those driver when I bought Roland soundcards.

But that looks like Windows's sound manager.
I DO remember Realtek having it's very own manager, with a different design.

But if you cant locate it, I guess I cant help :/
