Under Judgment Voting

We've had some complaints lately about some of these crap entries, that seem to come in two at a time on a daily basis, constantly passing judgment in the Portal. What is everyone's thoughts on these entries? How do you vote on them? Do some of you feel it is going to pass, so you just vote 2 or high just to get a protection point?

Post here how you feel about the current state of the Portal with all the crap entries passinging judgment.

Saves are important but wade I think there should be a trail period to stop real spammers like in the audio portal.

that'll slow the portal down SO much, but it would put an end to spam

Yeah, to tell the truth; I do vote 2 on the basis of the flash. If it's made by a spam group, I know that it's going to pass, so I just vote 2. It's not fair for the other flash artists maybe, but hey; I want some new badges.

I do check the portal once in a while, but I really dont vote.

I encourage everyone who's voting 0 to keep doing so. We are looking for ways to improve the system, so keep voting 0 if you feel the entry doesn't belong on Newgrounds, and if you aren't voting 0 because you just figure it will pass, try voting 0 anyway and see what happens.

Plain & simple. Come on, Wade; we know why they are passing. All of a sudden getting a Protection point has become important? Crap submissions mean one thing.... Free Blam points! Now the crappy submissions are getting through??

Wow, im so glad someone has mentioned this because in truth it pisses me off! there is some absoloute crap that gets passed because as you said, people want the protection point :O!!!! its untrue

I think it's high time to raise standards in the portal then if even you're commenting on it publicly now. Is it 1.5 now? Raise it to 1.7 or so.

This is part of the problem. If everyone doing what you are doing would just vote 0, the tide could turn, and you would start getting blam points. So try voting 0 for awhile and hopefully other people will as well and see if you start getting blam points.

Well, I always 0 them, but there are so many stat whores who are convinced that they'll be mass voted to pass anyway, they pass them as well to get the protect point. It's gotten to the point where mass voting isn't needed at all- it's left to the stat whores.

I'm not sure if there's any way to keep them from passing from an administrative point, but deletion is always an option, albeit an unpleasant one. I'd say that deletion should be saved for duplicate files, resubmits, and blank screen/single frame files for the most part, save for the occasional times that are out of the ordinary. It's up to the voters to keep the integrity of the portal. It's up to everyone who doesn't think they should pass to vote accordingly.

i find it quite annoying myself. it gets more annoying when its a crew or something cause no matter what happens those always get through. But what can we do about that?

I freely vote 0 on crap I know will pass. Not really wanting to rack up b/p points anymore really helps.

How much by the improvement though? Removing the crap? Deleting users or something?

It may be a good idea to restrict voting to only grounds gold users, as some people just promise friends free alcohol or gifts in return for votes of 5. Users could also undergo a vetting process like the audio portal checks, although you may need a few more mods to do this

Well, if you're voting zero... the crap is most likely to get blammed, and if it's explicit, the user will be notified, and possibly banned.

That doesn't bother me as much as the fact that people are still cheating to win the portal awards. (e.g.: underdog, turd of the week) When you made that thread about people should stop it unless if they want their account terminated, I really liked seeing those awards being given out fairly for what, two weeks? Then the cheating started up again. Can you sort that out again? rather annoying, it is.

I used to vote 2 to get a protection point but then I thought "screw it" and became sick of all the crap passing so I vote 0 on all of them now. It is about time we tried to get rid of all these shit flashes that keep on passing.
