My English teacher swears casually at least one lesson per week.

Swearing isn't allowed at my school, but different teachers will react differently to it. My gym teacher will make our whole class do workouts if too many people start swearing, while my history teacher wont do anything.

Swearing was completely banned in my school. I'm in sixth form college now and it's frowned upon but nobody really does anything about it. I don't swear that much anyway.

school's are so stupid, mine banned hoodies and has locked all the toilets, im so gonna sue, tis illegal ya know

My school banned us from going to the toilet at any time other than lunch or break. One guy was denied leaving to go, so he ran out of the class because he nearly wet himself, and then got suspended for it.

Last time checked, you could get in trouble for swearing in front of teachers anyway. Just continue to say it near your friends when no ones around.

I don't see why you freak out so much about this... I mean, you're not supposed to swear in general. In life, in the street, in the bus, in school, at home, on the internet, etc. You're not supposed to swear if you've had a good education.

But if your parents let T.V. educate you, no wonder you're so surprised swearing is not supposed to be something you can do at ease.

I thought it was a acquired by everyone that school wasn't a place to swear... especially not in front a teacher or in class. I guess the new generation will have a lot of stuff to learn.

Every school around here has swearing rules. I've never really had a problem with it. A lot of people are stupid and swear right in front of teachers and have to cough up 50 cents that goes to the swear jar. Seniors get away with swearing all the time though.

You can't swear anywhere. Their considered offensive and rude to say. Not just school, tons of other places(like others have already said)

You do make a good point here. Swearing by itself is nothing special. Anyone could say fuck, shit, bollocks, bastard, cunt or any other swear word, but it takes a master* of the English language to use swear words effectively.

Back in my old school, swearing was typically frowned upon (um... duh?) It was similar to what another poster has mentioned before in that different teachers and staff reacted in different ways. Some will give you detentions, others will just shrug, and then your crazy Latin teacher will 'accidentally' throw an eraser at you for interrupting his fascinating <cough> story about how cabbages and his daughter's new boyfriend.

Anyways, the only advice I can give is to suck it up and deal with it. It's not that difficult to watch your mouth when teachers are around. If its really that much of a nuisance then learn a different language. Spanish is usually good, most of the Romance Languages are relatively simple to find a cuss word or two in. If you want to be more exotic, go for Japanese suffixes and throw in a little German.

Sounds excessive. I can understand if the words are a threatening manner towards somebody, but getting expelled from a school just because a teacher here's you say fuck three times? Now that is grounds for appeal.

Suspension? Ok.

I don't understand the purpose of not swearing at school...I just don't understand what the intent is behind it...I'm sure it's a good intent...but it makes no sense to me (because it just doesn't make sense in general). It won't solve anything . . . won't make a kid not swear . . . just not when teachers are around. The teachers themselves swear up a storm when they're with the friends too no doubt. Hypocrites. . .and still it will achieve nothing. Whatever....I hate thinking about this shit it makes my head hurt due to the stupidity of society.

That's pretty crazy. I went to a school where the teachers themselves swore during their lessons.
