Doom is much better. Duke was ok...but for an overall series, one must look to Doom. Doom was the start of the 1st person shooter craze years ago. So go Doom.

i'd have to say doom...mainly because of it being the first, and i always liked it better, though i did enjoy duke nukem too. ah

anyone ever play those really old duke nukem games? the 2d sidescrolling ones where you always had to fight dr. proton at the end. man those were awesome.

I own the the first two platform versions of Duke and all the episodes of Doom from the '90s - Yes, including Plutonia Experiment and such.

I'm still not sure which series is better, but I like the platform versions of Duke more than the 3D versions.

personally, i think duke nukem is better, no matter how old skool it can be/get. the old and new games rock. i especially like the kickass weapons too. he's got nukes, microwave guns, shrinkers, double uzis, tri-tip machine guns, freezer guns, chainsaws, ect ect ect. PLUS, HES FRIGGEN RICH and he always gets the (hot) chick(s). its (almost) every badass's dream to become duke nukem.

i remeber looking at a psm mag when ps2 first came out.....it showed what they said were screen shots of the first thing on ps2's agenda the next nukem....well it's been a couple of years and iv heard no news on it since....wonder why

That's a good question? Duke Nukem because of the sweet weapons like the pipebombs and the babalicous chicks! Unfortunately the following first person shooters after that are kinda crap! Quake is not bad~!!

Between Duke Nukem and Doom? Doom. (although duke did have mild nudity :p). Although the best is and always will be Everquest.

Doom (1993) always had the better premise.

Duke Nukem (1991) was more of a "Aliens meets Rambo"-style plot.

Technologically speaking, DN was a side scroller until Duke Nukem 3D while Doom was a FPS from the start.

They're both milestone classics, nonetheless.

I think Doom is much better, Duke Nukem is kind of a geek, his clothes, the things he says, his overall personality. Plus first person view kicks ass! But Duke Nukem is an ok video game. Zero Hour is my favorite one, the first ones graphics suck.

This thread is full of people who have a big boner over Doom 3 and are giving original Doom extra credit for it. Some of them probably haven't even played it :P Duke Nukem 3-D is clearly superior in every way.

Did anyone ever play Marathon by Bungie? I trashed my Macintosh a LONG time ago, but if there was ever a reason to get a mac... that was it. It blew Doom out of the water.
