Isn't that for people staying more than a few days? It seems silly for people visiting for a few days to see friends etc, but i can understand if they're staying in the country.
I dunno man, I've never been asked any of that "where are you staying, who do you know here" shit when traveling to a foreign country over the past couple of years. It might just mainly be the UK and the USA that are getting tight about it now, due to the possible threat of terrorism. I know that some friends went to the USA last summer and had a bit of a hard time with the customs officers there, but I haven't been to America for a long time now, so I don't know if everyone gets that or not.
I suppose it's necessary in a way, but it does still seem a bit OTT sometimes, IMO.
