What's the rule on copyrights? For example, if I were to find an image of Doctor House, from House M.D., would it be acceptable? If I were to take a picture of Tricky, from Krinkels' Madness Combat series, would I be allowed to do that?

I dont think there is an issue with copywright, you may want to double check the rules if you want to make sure though.
Remember, you can't spell "slaughter" without "laughter"!
