Reviving Headphones 2008-04-10 22:56:26

My headphones recently died out on me, and despite being freebie phones I got with a four-track, they still were better than my speakers.

They were fragile, real fragile. Like the things were held together with duct tape some four days after I got 'em. Now recently they've taken the path of pretty much of every other pair I've ever owned, they alternate which speakers work.

I honestly can't figure it out, sometimes lefty is the only one pushing anything & vice versa. Very rarely do I plug 'em in and have both kicking out at semi-equal levels.

So AF, any tricks on reviving these things? Any links to some not so 'spensive not so shit headphones?

akg 44
run you about $30 with shipping. best value headphones ever made - period:

This pair of akg 240S are also an amazingly good deal if you've got a little extra cash - about $90 with shipping:

Actually - this little deal right here is pretty killer too..

If you can spend up to $100 though - these tend to get rave reviews across the board:

My first choice would be the Equations, second choice the AKG 240S, third choice the AT bundle, and last (but still a heck of a deal) the AKG 44's. Those are my recommendations. I tend to suggest the most costly options because it is worth not having to do multiple upgrades along the way if you get tired of the comparatively low quality of the akg 44 (against say the akg 240's or equations)...

one last note - ebay is almost always your best bet for getting dirt cheap stuff when it comes to type of music gear/software...
