So I have this problem right...
the thing is that I got my new Laptop and i wanted to install my previous version of Macromedia Flash Professional 8 on it. I did and works apart from the fact that the every time I have a movie clip, it takes REALLY LONG to open it. I mean really long. no matter what is in the MC. When it opens, a square slowly grows bigger and bigger until it grows to the entire stage (including the outside grey areas)
Sooo im wondering if this because my new Laptop has Vista and it's not conpatable with it or somthing, or mabye another reason, it would make a lot of help!!

Its an issue with Vista, not your laptop.

Here is how to fix it:

Go to Start > Programs > Use an Older program with this Version of Vista

From there, go through the compatabuility wizard. This will change it so whenever you open flash, it changes the configuration to make it work right. This will cause the OS to revert back to an older verison of windows basicaly, rendering Aero and other neat visual effect inoperable.

But, its worth it.

YES!

I had the same problem. It's caused by Vista's useless shiny effects. Go to your Flash shortcut, right click, and under "compatibility" check off "Disable desktop composition". This will disable the Vista effects when you open Flash, and re-enable them when it closes. If Flash crashes you'll have to manually re-enable them. (I can't remember where you do that, I turned them all off because it also stopped my tablet from working with Photoshop.. and Vista is just generally annoying.)

It's the Aero UI that causes problems. If you don't use Aero, feel free to disable it and never have to run in compatibility mode.

Generally I just click on it and then Ctrl + E, but it does get annoying when you occasionally misclick and it does that.

use vista home premium (aero) and It opens in vista basic compatability mode. However, it does ocasionally do that. I found, to fix it either close and re-open flash or save it under a different file name.
