Woman is no longer a delegate because she called kids monkeys for climbing in trees.

I'm sorry, when did calling kids monkeys who climb in trees become racist, I was called a monkey all the time as a kid when I climbed trees. Yes, I've heard the term porch-monkey (no you can't take back the phrase), but if you are climbing in a tree, I can see the correlation not having to do with race.

I guess I'm just confused.

Monkey is far too vague to be considered a racial slur, this is a travesty and nothing less. Sheltering a population through these means is a two edged sword, you might make some people happy but not without pissing off the majority of the population and making life altogether stagnant.

when i was younger i was refered to as a monkey on many occasions, generally when in a tree. hell i was even called a baboon after ascending a climbing wall quickly. in these contexts is the word monkey demeaning? no, not at all. why? because its making reference to the person's ability to climb (or simply the fact that they are climbing something0, not to intelligence or other subhuman traits associated to monkeys.

Except monkey is not a racial slur. Almost all parents call their child a monkey at some point. Monkey business, monkeying around, these are old terms, and are more prevalent than the "racial slur" variety. The entire comment was "The tree is not there for them to be climbing in there like monkeys."

The saddest, worst part about this whole thing is that she was fined for "disorderly conduct", is this how they are now punishing people for "racism" (something that isn't a crime in the first place)? As well, she resigned from her position, HANDS DOWN! because she obviously felt guilty, probably went home that night, looked in the mirror and called her self an evil racist!
