"For the smart people you are claiming to be, im suprised you didnt realise this was a joke forum."
i KNOW it was a joke. however i used it to make a point. from your posts in other threads, you seem to think that the communists are some faceless enemy and that all communists are alike. if you didn't want someone to take it seriously, you should've posted it in general
"Agent orange was used to remove the trees and forrest in vietnam. This was because the VC used Guerilla tactics and without the trees there they would have to fight differently from how they ususally did (like the tet offensive). Anyway unless you were talking about napalm and you just got the two mixed up (I do that sometimes) then im not sure u knew what u were talking about."
agent orange WAS used to remove the trees in vietnam. HOWEVER the result was the death and mutation of far too many vietnamese. there are still vietnamese children born with no legs, or one leg, or no arms, etc. etc. all thanks to that stupid country we call america

There is no way that this is a joke forum. There's simply nothing funny about it, even when you look really, really hard.

Neither side won the war. It was a stalemate according to Wlater Cronkite, but that was because of the Tet Offensive. We could have won that war but we withdrew due to an anti-Vietnam public opinion. The question is flawed because our goals were unclear. The genereal idea was that we were stamping out Communism, but it seems unrealistic. I guess we could say the Communist regime won in the long run because Vietnam is a communist nation to this day, but they were pummeled during the war.

It would have been deleted beecause it would be in the wrong area.

I know about the effects of AO, it didnt just contaminate the Vietnamese either. Many of the veterans had the same sideaffects.

Appart from the public being against the war, the americans also saw another reason for retreating. They still believed they could win the war but with far too much loss to their own army.
And war doesnt determine who is right, it determines who is left.

awwww those poor soldiers. makes you wonder why the hell they dropped that gas on themselves. i feel much sorrier for the thousands of vietnamese who are now mutated thanks to that goddam gas

no, we retreaded because we lost. pure and simple, we lost. we couldn't stamp out communism (thank god), we couldn't 'liberate' vitenam, and tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) got killed because of a few stupid presidents
"And war doesnt determine who is right, it determines who is left."

We all feel sorry for the vietnamese, but we cant blame the soldiers for the desicions made by their superiors, or the government. This is what happened when the veterans returned from the war, the public rejected them and it lead to many mental problems and my committed suicide.

I only said that the americans believed they could win, i never stated my opinion. It's quite the same as yours.

Slizor, you STILL rock me.
That made me laughs so hard. All of this. Every bit of it.
The math part even. And I HATE math.
"Joke" forum or not...well. No, I don't think it was. This wouldn't be the first time, nor will it be the last, that history and politics get confused. Politics -cause- history, so it's an easy mistake.
If it wasn't 8 in the morning, and if I wasn't still working on my tea, I'd answer some questions.
Instead...I have a question of my own. One of philosophical origin.
Question from HoL
Why?

I think that everyone should be wary about threads called "Test your _______ Knowledge." We're on the damn internet. A: People can look stuff up. B: People will only be in it to give you smart ass answers like "Well I don't know about that, but as Socrates so philosophically put it..." and we're running around in circles showing our asses.

Being ruled by someone implies them actively ruling, which they don't. Australia is just a constitutional monarchy, it's no big deal.

Here's a bit of trivia for you:
Name the French dignitary that assisted Theodore Roosevelt through the revolution in Panama, and through his treaty (assisted by John Hay) finally secured digging rights from the Compagnie Nouvelle?

Oops, got you and aadrshepard mixed up. He has this totally biased view of Africa, so thats why I used it. But my point still stands. Why the hell did you somehow make a link between odd behavior and Russia? I mean, how? And what the hell did you mean ith this response?
