It's like what you're playing/reading/watching reads your mind and says LOLUCANTHAVEDIS, and kills off the character. No warning, no reading spoilers beforehand, just sudden death.

In Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, there is a badass dude called Brenner. He kicked total ass. However, at the start of the mission where you're running away from that fat fuck of an Admiral, he says he's going to "stay behind and distract" the fat fuck. I was like NOOOOO, and at the end of the mission, he's still alive and I say YAAAAAAY.
Then he gets nuked. I almost had heart attack.
