I find it hard to believe that there are actual medical disorders out there that can change the way your brain thinks and acts in a situation compared to a person without it. But it's there, apparently. I live with one who has the disorder.
But still, I find it hard to believe. Yes, he might be autistic, that much is believable. But can it really change the way he thinks, acts, and decides? I compared him to a bunch of other people at my school, and plenty of other people act just like him! About a quarter of the people at my school do the same thing. Lazy, giving up, doesn't want to work, and yet I know they have potential to be very successful. Aspergers is his excuse for not trying, because it makes him focus on something else besides work.
So, Newgrounds, would Autism be a significant excuse for bad things you do because it was "beyond your control?" Discuss.

For fucks sake, there's a previous topic about Autism just sitting on the front page.
This too will pass.

So you agree to the fact that things you do bad are beyond your control due to your disorder?

Exactly what I find hard to believe, right there. How can your brain will you to do something you know is wrong?

I was diagnosed with an unspecified autistic disorder in the 2nd grade, and it still hasn't been specified yet, but I'm believed to have NLD (nonverbal learning disorder). It really affects my social skills and behavior, and sometimes it results into anger.

Is there a little voice in your head or something? Does it tell you to do bad things, or it won't go away?

my brother has autism and i didnt understand it much either at first. It is a brain disorder. There are many different forms of it though. It makes them have trouble socializing and learning.
If you dont think you're awesome, then you fucking suck!

I know what you mean. It's telling me right now to rip your brain through your nose and dance upon your chest in a manner that ends up making me breaking your ribs and crushing your organs.
This too will pass.

That's odd.

I have aspergers, and by first hand experience its not like we don't try, some have a very hard time
to process information given to us, like me I have trouble with math, its like a foreign language to me
and once I grasp the subject I will forget it the next day, however its not on purpose.
people with aspergers and other spectrum disorders have little or no trouble with storing and retaining information, and the process to grasp it.
But don't get me wrong, there are some out there who don't give it any effort at all.

Same thing with me also. I hate math. I forget whatever we learned the next day. However, I still get decent grades. Yet, I don't have any kind of brain disorder, let alone Autism. That has nothing to do with it.

If it was an excuse for bad things we do, do you understand how many people wouldn't be in jail?
Lawyer: You killed 500 people with your fingernails.
Criminal:Sorry, I have Autism
Lawyer: You poor thing!
I'm not cool enough to have a nice sig.

Not only is that impossible (but I'd love to hear about that in an article) but that kind of situation is not likely to happen. I'm talking less severe. Not even killing actually. Think less violence.
