What would custom be? Sorry, I'm not that fluent in computers, I just know what makes them go. I saw a laptop on Dell, it had 2 Gigabytes of RAM, and some other good features for only 1090 or something like that.
My budget can't be any higher... I'm not that rich.

Don't get a laptop. Customize your PC. Laptops will be outdated in a year. With the money you have you can get a very top notch customized desktop. The cut is how to put it together but if you need help I can guide you through.

Increase your budget by 400 and you could get the Gateway laptop, or the Dell XPS.

No desktop, laptop. I travel a lot, and I don't think I can bring a desktop with me as easy as I can a laptop. I might try to save up even more, it just might take a while... I was looking at the Dell XPS, it does look quite nice. The one closest in my budget and still has the RAM I want is $1,299; it's on sale and has 2 Gigabytes of RAM and 250 Gigabytes of Storage. The next one after it is also on sale and is $1,499 and has an amazing 3 Gigabytes of RAM with an even more amazing 320 Gigabytes of Storage. Both of them have decent video cards, but the one for $1,499 clearly has the better one out of all 4 of the XPS series. So if no one else has anything else to show, I think I'm going to go with one of those XPS models.
Thanks!

DON'T GET VISTA!
I swear man! It'll be your funeral! Vista only has good graphics and costs a lot. Everything that you have for XP will not work on Vista. Its bad. Most PC games that are at least 1 year old will probably not work.
Just get XP and update it online. Its the best you could do.

Sometimes. I am using a Dell desktop (tower) right now, and its pretty good.
But, the flaw is that Dell is well-known, so it is pretty vulnerable to a virus.
