It's fucking crazy, he's the best characters because when you unlock all the grids, he's left with the best limit and the same abilities and stats as the others except Yuna.

Yuffie wasn't useless... some great comic relief from all the shit going down during the game + everyone having a depressed overtone. Even though they suck in battle, Yuffie and Reeve (cait sith) brought a bit more light into the game.

From a technical standpoint, though, Yuffie is far from useless. Her final limit break hits for more times than cloud's omnislash, thus if you max hero out she can become more powerful limi-break-wise than Cloud. O.O
Also, when you use.... (grr can't remember its name.. the materia that turns creatures into items.. morph maybe?)... it lowers the user's damage to about 150, and the creature will only be turned into an item when killed during that damage. This makes it very impossible to farm power sources or whatever. Yuffie's ultimate weapon removes this barrier, making the materia deal the same damage as her normal attack, thus giving her the ability to farm sources at a INSANE rate. Best stat grinding character of the game.

Mind you, she wasn't a very well made character 'me ninja, me steal your materia. end.', her cockyness and imagined guile makes for a great character to get a good few laughs out of whenever you talk to her.

Besides, she reminds me of Ayame from Power Stone and Rikku from 10. Thats reason enough :P

Heh. No characters in FF are truly useless. It's more often a question of what characters you didn't like enough to use.

I agree, for the most part. I found Aeris and Yuffie a lot more useless than Cait Sith. But, I disagree with Quina. She was USELESS...

FF7 Goblins. In the other games you fight them early and get experience of them needed to start the game, on FF4 you fight different versions all the way through. They are always the starting point of FF games, except for 8 which I think didn't have them.

FF7, you can only fight them after you have the high wind of a dark blue chocobo and they are pathetic. All you do is get the needed nut of them and also get Goblin Punch, which at that point in the game can only be used for comic relief.

FF7 Goblins. Useless.

But yea I got nothing from him, at the end of the game he was still in his secluded circle that only had about 30 or 40 nodes in it.

Kimahari wasn't bad because he had the attack where he could steal whatever enemies used, but other than that he was extremely useless. I was NOT a fan of him, but I don't know how anyone has put down LuLu either. LuLu was sweet as hell with Magic. Besides, you couldn't really HATE FFX characters because all you had to do was rotate them into battle whenever you needed them. Worst system ever, and easiest way to win battles. I don't think I ever lost a battle.

I went though a game using her, she is actually pretty damn good.

Also she LOVES danger. Remember the line in the train when they are saying what their plan is. "Blow it up with a bazooka (or rocket launcher)" Now THAT is bad ass in a sly disguise.

Personally, Quina from IX was useful if you ate the right enemies. If you eat the right enemy and get Mighty Guard, you're set facing Necron at the end, just keep using MG to lessen all the attacks he throws at you.

Personally, Any character from 2 was useless. The game blew to begin with anyway.

I can't remember the equipment, but here is how you do the tower. Get 4 reflect rings, and you are safe all the way untill the boss, this includes the white dragon in the tower as it keeps casting pearl which is reflected and kills it. It is a really easy way to get to the top.

Same, I missed getting him, I have started again to save him this time. He was going to be one of my main party members.

Well I know now, I just didn't know when I was a kid.

This thread has shocked me to my very core. Clearly either people suck at Final Fantasy, or just bought it because of hype and not because they actually like RPGs.

First of all, Yuffie is an amazing character, why do you think she was so hard to get? I know she wasn't that hard for most people but if you never looked at a guide she wasn't easy to acquire. She had some amazing weapons with great Materia slots, she was quick, her level ratio was smaller than most RPG characters, and her LvL 3 and 4 limit breaks just pwned for damage.

Secondly, Sephiroth does kick so much ass. Moreso than most characters. Let's be honest, he was the clone of a freak who wielded a sword and he was only beaten because he was taken 8-1 and all of his opponents were masters of their arts. Plus Sephiroth never used Materia, he was naturally powerful, with the force of the lifestream within his very blood. And he cannot catch fire, that's just useful.

And Vincent's limit breaks didn't bring him down (the third one did) but Chaos? Holy crap, what a beast. And the Leatherface limit break (which I believe was called 'Nightmare') was just novelty to the highest degree.

However, I do agree that Cloud is crap. The movie AC really ruined him as a character. He was a kind of psychotic lifestream infused swordsman with a sword bigger than him. In the movie he was an Emo without the fringe and piercings. He did have a f***ing sweet bike though.

My most useless character ever was Shadow (from one of the earlier games can't remember which, 4 maybe? or 6?) I personally didn't like his play style, and the fact that scrolls have one use and gone was annoying. Especially when none of them were really that effective.

My favorite character ever was Cecil from 4. As a Dark Knight he was cool and as a Paladin he was kick-ass.

Sorry to double post but I forgot. Quina is great. Some of the BLU Magic you attain is indispensable and the fact that you can get her early was very useful, especially when Gilgamesh is statistically the hardest battle on the first 3 discs (if you measure the level you should be at that point compared to his stats.

I will accept that Quina was not everyone's favorite, but if used right, you can't get a better supporting character. Plus Quina's top few weapons are easier to obtain than most character's and Quina has a good balance of ATK + DFN to SPD + MAG.
