As the city is decided, Maybe you should use both. DC for one day and NYC for the Summer of 09' one. I don't know, but maybe two NYC ones would be repetitive. It doesn't quite matter.

I agree with whomever said that it should be dc for one meet and then nyc for the next one... or vice versa.. if its east coast, it would make sense to change venues on the east just to not make it repetitive.

Anyway if the bulk of the meet itinerary is around going to touristy things or museums or whatever, i think its kind of moot to be super strict about having it be 18+ especially if people are on the verge of being 18 anyway... i mean unless youre planning the meet around a strip club. 19yr olds cant get into bar's anyway like they can in canada or europe. I dunno just throwing that out ther.

Yep... that's why I don't think any Meet-Up in the U.S.A. would work well. Unless Quebec's drinking age is 18, which is the lowest in America, excluding Mexico I guess. Thus making Quebec a perfect destination for Meet-ups. Especially if you advertise for it in the General section and don't really have a plan on which destination you want to go to.

The only Meet-ups in U.S.A. I can see working out good are the Mod Meet-ups... since most of the Mods are 21+ and because it's organized by the NG staff itself.

At Montreal we kinda spent half the time in Bars... it probably wouldn't have been half as fun if we had to carry around a bunch of 14 years old. So yeah, I don't see why would you guys not allow kids at your Meet-up since you will obviously not go in Bars or such things, even if you set the age limit at 18; and I don't think you guys feel like getting arrested in a NG Montreal Meet-up, even though it'd make a good thread subject. Another reason why the Montreal Meet-up worked so well was the fact we are 10+ people that live here in Montreal already, and that it wasn't our first Meet-up... more like our 4th "official" Meet-up.

Anyways, good luck with that... but again I highly doubt this Meet-up works out well.

I'm calling you out on the fact that we can't get into bars. This is New York City man. It's home of 6 major colleges. Thursday nights are huge college nights and I've been to plenty of bars that admit you at 18, but say that you can't drink, which is bullshit because once you're inside you're drinking because there's so many people the bartender can't check your wristband.

Well, whatever works out, I'm just glad NYC won the vote. Not too far of a commute for me that way, and I get to do all of the dirty things I was planning on doing. Cheers doods.

We had one for X-mas 2006, not for the last Meet-up. The only place we could call a house was my apart where Zerok and TropicalParadise were staying, DTG's house where we watched a movie and the Hilton where we got wasted.

Because we would have to be responsible for them, which none of us want. Also we can go into bars at 18, where it's not hard to get a drink afterwards.

We have people who live all over the city. as well as people like me who live in the suburbs but go there all the time. It shouldn't be hard to get people who are flying to get from JFK to the hotel. Or people like me taking Metro North to go from Grand Central Station to the hotel.

Hmm, still, you guys have never met. None of those guys have met. The probabilities people actually show up are slim, in comparison to the chances we had, us from Montreal, since we had already met several times. It also boosts the people who come from far away's confidence when they know their hosts know what they're doing.

The first time we met it was back in 2005, and most of us already knew each other in real life. So I guess that helped a lot, especially the fact that we all became friends pretty quickly and kept in touch. The last Meet-up was really successful because it was like a bunch of old friends meeting again... Luis brought his little Flash gang from Ontario, NegativeONE and Afro-Ninja knew Luis pretty well too, and Luis had been in Montreal last year. So yeah... everyone was really comfortable with everyone. And for the few people that had never seen us before it went pretty well too. Good luck with having the same thing happening there ;)
