Ok - so in case you don't read through the pages, Fragment is bowing out of Meet-up 08 because of a road-trip to California (can't really blame him - that sounds awesome).
Also, I understand that the dates originally thrown out by Fragment for a late August meet-up don't work for a lot of people, so I was thinking of an early-August timeframe.
So, would the weekend of August 1-3 work for everyone? That's Friday (August 1st) through Sunday (August 3rd).
Please post if:
a) you CAN make this time and want to come
b) you CAN'T make this time and want it to be changed
c) you want to tell us, yet again, that this meet-up will never happen
I know planning has hit somewhat of a rough spot this past week, but I'm hoping to get everyone excited for the Meet-up again - this will happen, and it will be awesome - if you guys choose to make it awesome.
As soon as we have the dates sorted out (which will probably be the dates stated above, unless a bunch of people have a problem with em) we will start conversing about what people want to do in NYC. Some people want to do touristy things, others want to crash bars and clubs - we will find a happy medium to appease both groups next.
Finally, if you have any questions or comments, and for some reason don't want to post them in the thread (or want people to get back to you quicker), please PM either myself, MercatorMap or Lotus (who has already helped out in organizing behind the scenes).

Also:
If you think you can make these dates and are planning on coming, please post in the thread - I'd love to get a list of people who will be there soon so we know how many to expect. This is crucial for getting hotel rooms and activities planned out.

Expensive.

Not as exciting as it was when I was a little kid.
-Going to the village and just walking around (they have street entertainers all the time)
And Trannies! WOOT!
-A nice comedy club would be ace. I haven't one to suggest but they're everywhere.
I know of one that I actually went to last weekend. It's called New York Comedy Club. It's cheap as tits to get tickets to, which I'll be in charge of, and they serve drinks to 18 year olds. It's a 2 drink minimum, and they're like 4-8 dollars a drink. BUT there are 6 comedians so it's well worth the money.
The statue of liberty thing would probably cost a lot though so I don't think that one will happen. Also I hope you all like buses and subways :)
I love the NY subway system.
just for the record I don't actually live in the city boundaries so I'm not keen on navigating it. The maps can be quite complicated.
I got that all under control.
Otherwise I'm down for the new dates. It's gonna be sick as hell. I can't wait to rap - I mean meet you all for this NYC adventure!

Eh I remember you saying in an earlier post that you were from Westchester, which is fairly close to the city and everything. I mean we could always take everyone to New Roc City also? You think that would be a good idea BNM? Glow in the Dark minigolf, bowling, ice skating, and some hot wings or Applebee's? Who doesn't like New Roc City? I mean jeeeez.

I'm pretty sure it's Glow in the Dark minigolf. Whatever it is with neon lights and shit. The only thing is we have to go at night because all of the scary black people go during the day with the 500 members of their family. I'm not being racist, just honest.
There's a lot of fun shit to do in the city though. South Street Seaport is fucking tits in the summer, we would have a total blast there. Then there's Chinatown, Times Square, and a whole bunch of other places I've been to but can't remember. However, if you're looking to go to museums and junk like that, I'm not down. I'll pass on that and chill in the hotel haha.

Yea personally I feel like NYC has a lot more to offer in and around it on the outskirts than Washington D.C. has, but that's just my own opinion. It sounds like it'll be a total shitfest (meaning fun as hell).

I haven't read the rest of this post yet (will after I post this). But here is my opinion. You should do it in Boston on the same day Youtube has their meet up June 28th. That would create some very interesting situations I believe. Now off to read the previous 14 pages.

Haha a total nohomo when I say it'll be fairly exciting when the two of us meet BNM. That's so true because there's nothing I hate more than people from Mass, and I'd rather chill with NGers than a bunch of YouTubers, they suck.
Now you guys got me all excited for this meetup, it better work out!

I just went up there last weekend...Buffalo is the biggest waste of a place to put a "city" in the world. The only good thing about it is that it has the place where Buffalo Wings originated, but I would rather eat them in New York at a shitty place where there is stuff to do in walking distance around it. Sorry, but no Buffalo.

Yeaahhhh I live in NY and all, but I dunno how excited I would actually be to meet with a bunch of random teenage dudes who I'm not even familiar with. Mod meets were different since everyone was generally older, I was at least sorta-familiar with most peeps, and there was no onus on me to plan anything.
I barely even know the cats around here now, so... I dunno.

I'm fine with the schedule of activities being decided by PM, rather than in person.
But I'm hoping to nail down an exact schedule of what we are doing on what days in the morning/afternoon/evening. This is sorta necessary for people who want to meet up with us, but will not be attending the entire 3-day love-fest. They need to know where they can meet us on certain days at (roughly) certain times.

Most of us have not met each other, but so far - we all sound like pretty sweet dudes, so I'm not sweating this. We're going to have a great time, so I hope you reconsider.
Okay - So thus far here's the possible activities already mentioned:
Ferry to Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty - $8
- but the interior of the Statue is "restricted as a security measure". It looks like the terrorists have won.
Museum of Natural History - $20-30 (Depending upon if we want to see an 'IMAX film' or 'Space Show' while there)
The Village - walking around and checking out the scene. Also, apparently there are some sick clubs there as well (for a night-visit)
Comedy Club
- APF suggested the New York Comedy Club (found two different 'NY Comedy Clubs'):
-- New York Comedy Club (1) - $6-12
-- New York Comedy Club (2) - $15-20
-BNM also suggested a Comedy Club:
-- Carolines - average of $35, depending upon who's performing (But you get dinner at the club, and it seems like they get some big names there)
New Roc City - "New Roc City is a 1.2 million square foot state-of-the-art entertainment complex"
- bowling, laser tag, go-karts, IMAX theater, restaurants, stores - need I say more?
- prices depend upon what we want to do there - but it seems fairly inexpensive
Empire State Building - $19
Central Park Zoo - $8
Other places to walk around and check out:
Chinatown
Times Square
Central Park
Rockefeller Center
South Street Seaport
So I have no idea how accessible these places are by subway, nor how far away they are from each other. I don't want to spend most of my time in NYC traveling, so hopefully we can find activities for each day that are somewhat close to each other.
But so far we have a lot of options, as you can see - keep throwing ideas out there!

Yeah - I didn't know how far west chester was from the actual city. I would suggest a bunch of users trying to drive people around (I would bring my car up), but I don't know if the hassle of trying to jam everyone into cars, possibly getting lost/losing people and trying to find parking would be worth it.
So I think that the subway is the best bet for transportation - it just limits us to activities that are within the actual city and accessible by rail. I just hope that someone knows how to get around NYC subways, because I would be hopeless trying to navigate it alone.

Where there's a will, there's a way...right? Right? Haha whatever works it was just a suggestion for a few people to think about. I'd say we would have a fairly enjoyable time.
For the people coming in by plane (if any at all) instead of going through the trouble of getting a cab or a subway or any type of transportation which is complicated, I'm offering to pick you up. I've decided to drive for this event because it would make a couple things less complicated.
Yes I know most of you may be a little nervous about riding in a car with someone you've never met before, but you can pay the $50 cab fare if you'd like.
But honestly, if it's a consolation, I have no tickets, and have never been in an accident.

Sweet - thanks for this. It doesn't look like anythings too far away (but I don't know how big the Island is). Looks like we can spend a day/afternoon in northern part of the island (if we want to check out the zoo/museum), a day in th middle, and a day in the southern part. I'm assuming that they are all accessibly by subway?

If we can figure out a way to get the group there (train, subway, zeppelin) and its not too long of a trip, then I think we should still consider going. It seems like it would be fun.

Awesome. That will definitely make things easier. Now we just have to get everyone who's flying in to arrive at roughly the same time so they can hitch a ride. I'm looking at you, Canadians...
