This is great! I have been a long time lurker on Newgrounds (maybe for around 5 years or so), and I was wanting to joing once I finished my first flash, but I think this is the perfect opportunity. I have spent the last week trying to figure out what to base my flash on, and after some research, I decided to make it on a particular point in MGS3 (the only MGS game I thouroughly played through). I hope I get in, thanks, Utah!

Whoa, embarrasing! Typos in my first post. Anyways, I tried to choose a particular scene that wouldn't be neccesarily used by others TOO much, but just to be sure, I put my own little twist into it based on a secret in the game. I am extremely excited since it will be my first feature length flash. I've had flash for around a year now and have been practicing in order to avoid posting crap. I now think I am ready to try this thing out. Is it too early to ask for a small hint about what you've seen so far in terms of what the animations you have recieved in order to avoid seeing the same thing over and over?

To be honest, we'd just love to see shit that:

1. Isn't a cardboard box joke. The gimmick is getting played out, real fast...

2. Involves characters other than Snake. There's a ton of other characters in the series that have a lot of potential. At this moment, Utah is really the only one I've seen who's most likely not going to use Snake, so his submission might look out of place if others don't do the same.

3. Doesn't use the MGS theme song, if it's constantly used as a background song, it'll get pretty annoying during the collaboration. The soundtracks have tons of music and ambient tracks you could choose from.

I hope people read this...

LOL! You can rest assured that I'm not using any of those cliches. And I though no one would like mine since none of them have Snake in them. My first one involves Revolver Ocelot, and the second is an ad from Arms Tech to sell Metal Gear Rex. Haven't made up my mind on what I want to do for my third one, since I keep changing my mind.

This forum has also been a double edged sword, since I can get feedback on my ideas, but it also makes me more indecisive since I see ideas from other people that I was going to do, so I have to drop them for originality's sake. As for the music, I've really only one song from MGS, and it's the game over music. I'm using it to intro the Arms Tech logo, which I have being writen on the screen the same way the Game Over screen appears in MSG 1. It's a really nice effect, and probably the best flash work I've done to date.

This is my last day of work before I get time off, so I'll be able to put more work into what I've got. Be ready for some screen shots tomorrow afternoon.

In fact, the only reason as to why I even a groin in the animation is because it is tied in with the game and it was actually seen in a particular scene. The only one I've ever played was the first one, and that's where the cardboard box thing started, if I'm not mistaken. Haven't played the older NES versions, so I couldn't tell you about those.

Yeah, he uses boxes in all of the PS2 games. As for PSP, I'm not sure - but most likely, since every MG title more or less re-uses every gameplay idea from the first release.

ok dude i had the awsomeest dream last nite about metal gear solid and i seen this i was omfg no way soo on to the point my dream would make an awosme flash ok heres how it goes,
ok solid snake looks around a corner and sees 8 enemy soldiers and then eh looks down and somehow hes naked and has no weopons then the soldiers start walking towards him and he notices a box so snake jumps in and then the box gets nailed shut and starts moving after a couple hours of boredom he falls asleep and wakes up and hes on the ocean but decides to stay in the box and goes back to sleep he wakes up and hes still so he gets ready to kick the lid off when he grasps a gun that just magicly appeared so he kicks the top of jumps out and shoots a gorilla in the head andlooks around and hes in africa and im prettty shure you guys can continue it from there :D:D

It ocurred to me... Can we make a sketch, and then make several other bits (like alternative endings) to be shown in between the other sketches? Or that would be a wee bit to complex for what's planned?

In Game Boy Color version of Metal Gear Solid (which is totally a different game than the PS1 one),
you have to use it too much for my liking.

I don't know will I make another short for this collab, because my own "Metal Gear: Cheater" flash is still underway. I did have some idea for a short with no Snake included in to it.

And if you are wondering, I came up with "Metal Gear: Cheater" a week before this collab was opened and it's more likely inspired by TheHande's "Metal Poop Shit" on YouTube (TheHande is voicing Snake for me too).
