(simpsons) Where Is Springfield?

There are plenty of theories that people have, and why not come to the smartest people on the internet for their clues as to where the actual springfield that the simpsons reside in actually is?

Heres something that throws me off.. the quote "West springfield is 3x bigger than texas!" - HOW CAN THAT BE??

Also, theres an episode where you see springfield is on a coast (Pulling a homer episode) and another episode that gives you clues is an episode that ends with the Simpsons crossing off all the states that they're banned from, and a map is marked with all the X's except 2 states, which of those 2 states is it?

Not to mention that the in-city geography changes between stories. For example, the Simpsons' house has shown to be next to the Nuclear Plant's parking lot and a forest in different stories.

Yea, but there's a Springfield in almost every state, not just Illinois. That's one of the reasons they chose that name for The Simpsons to live in. That way it couldn't ever be determined.

I could swear that in one episode they say which state they are in, but I can never remember which episode or where they said it was.

There's so many inconsistencies with the town and it's surroundings that it's impossible to determine where it is.

The truth is that isn't not supposed to be set anywhere. It's a fictional location.

This is all bullshit. The fact that they're hinting you along is also bullshit. They're just screwing with you. There is no such thing as the springfeild that the simpsons live in, however, there IS a springfeild. It's nothing much though, just a small area of farmland.
