Soul Calibur 4
This one seriously bothers me. Yes, the story is complex and weird and a lot of the extra gametypes are gimmicky, but those are the only legitimate complaints.
The core gameplay is still extremely fun, smooth, and deep. The characters all play drastically differently, with exception to the obvious clone characters (Sophita / Cassandra), but even they are pretty distinct.
You can get away with spamming attacks or trying to throw over and over again against the computer or new players, but it really doesn't work against someone who knows what they're doing. There's a new system in place to punish overly defense players, there's guard impacts, you can CANCEL grabs, there's unguardable attacks and guard breaking attacks and the game's based around short combos rather than long combinations of button presses.
So many combos can lead into other potential combos (but nothing is unavoidable) or set you up in different stances and there's moves that you can choose to purposefully delay to throw your opponent off guard. It's my favorite fighting game series, and he basically says it's shit because you can beat the AI with cheap tactics.
He's done this with other games, but this review really bothers me the most.
I don't know, did this irk anyone else or am I just a tottalley reatarded fanboie?
