Finally I got a new desktop and only payed $300 for it. The motherboard and graphics card were free so I can't complain about it.
Grapichs card : NVIDIA GeForce 7600 (Meh can't complain) Heat Synced
Sound card : Need to get that
RAM: 2gb unknown, but my dad examined it and said it was really good.
Motherboard : AMD 2 point something (Not Duo, and can't upgrade to intel because it's physcially impossible to take out anything from the motherboard) Heat Synced
Hard drive: Western digital 500gb SATA (Yay Highspeed)
Monitor : Will be getting a Sonic Vision 20 inch LCD
Speakers : Old ass Creatives from my basement.
Case: Smilodon comes with 500 watts system power and 4 fans built in.
So I got a decent computer for only paying about $300 maybe a little less.
Love you micro center

You don't even know what the RAM is and you built it yourself.

also, did you make sure to put thermal gell on ur cpu/heatsink? if you didnt itll fry ur cpu
Yeah I haven't gotten the monitor yet so I can't install any software, so I haven't turned it on often. Everything works fine and no static electricity has fried anything. Plus I need to go buy the thermal gell later, and I have like a fan on top of the thing so no need to worry. 5 fans should take the heat :P.

I hate my HP laptop it is 2 years old and it can only handle playing WC3 Frozen throne. I can't stand it I need to play CS source and TF2. So I got my desktop and a good one at that.

It is actually very easy just make sure not to fry anything with static electricity. They give you a band for that. Also you just plug in a few things into some slots and presto done and done. Rather pay $800 for a great computer than $1200 for a really shitty one that can barely play games

Installing XP later, I don't feel like shelling out money for Vista and optimizing it.

DO NOT GET A LAPTOP. I dicked one out for about $1000 dollars and I was happy at first it could play a few games and it was decent. But as technology progresses it just makes laptops shit since you can't upgrade them. I couldn't play TF2 so thats why I got a desktop.

I really don't give a shit about using my computer for gaming though. I'm a console player. Computer is more for typing and Internet and shit like that. I've had desktops all my life, so now I think I'll be getting myself a laptop next. As soon as I have the fucking money that is :/

Here's your real $300 build:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ (2.1 gHz dual core) - $54
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-M61SME-S2 (Micro ATX) - $48
PSU: Rosewill RV350 ATX 1.3 350W - $26
Video card: Nvidia 7600 - Free
Sound: 7.1 onboard sound is already on the motherboard - Free
RAM: A-Data 2GB (2 x 1gb) DDR2 800 - $35
Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 541 - MicroATX Mini Tower - $40
Hard Drive: SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD321KJ 320GB - SATA 3.0gb/s - $70
Money left over for shipping: About $30
And that's just going with prices from Newegg. If you did more extensive comparison shopping you could probably shave off at least another $20 and get a bigger hard drive or 4GB of memory.

And I can't help but wonder this myself. AMD 2 point something? RAM unknown? Okay.

I wish I could get a better computer, one with more RAM and memory.
Currently I've got 120 GB memory and 1 GB RAM.

If you spent more money on your components and less on your case you could have had a much better video card. Also 4gb of slow ram<2gb hell fast ram, but with your video card I consider both to be a bottle neck

Damn man, you are one hell of a tech head. I think those are all my parts. And shipping was free cause I picked everything out myself. And the AMD isn't dual core, thats what I want to replace except it is actually physically impossible to take it out due to the large heat sync shoved right on top of it. I suppose it is powerful enough.

Ha yeah and spend about a couple grand for something that will be outdated in a year, while I can upgrade when I got the money.

Don't go with Vista anyway. All of the others suck except for Vista Ultmate.
I'm gunna give you a hesitant congratulations. Not all that sure that you actually built that rig though, but I'm not one to point fingers. Nice job man
