This post is not regarding random people as a subject, but is direct question to those who act 'random':
Why? What causes you to stick irrelevent bits of your own stupidity into your messages? What does it add? Do you think people find it funny? How does it contribute to the message, if there is one, to your post?

For a brief time, i thought "being random" was funny. But now, the way kids say it, it's just embarrasing. For instance, i remember a chat room i was in, and some kid said "OMG SPORKS!". There was a short period of silence, and he was banned from the room.
All i know is, those "Random people", seriously need to grow up. They think their inside jokes and one-liners are funny, but it's all just really, REALLY annoying.
Do what now...?

Yes, I hate it when people go off saying
"PIE"
"CAKE"
"COOKIES"
"I LIKE PIE, DO YOU LIKE PIE? PIE PIE PIE"
Usually I say back "LOL UR SO RANDOM!!!!" Because no one likes to be complimented like then when they try to be random. But if they do, I drop a sarcasm bomb on them then.

Discomfort or sympathy.
Acting random becomes a personality-staple like most other idiosyncrasies. In this case it becomes a method of self-affirmation. In other instances it's used as filler to distract from awkwardness. Sometimes it becomes an excuse to be 'ignorant' or a way to change a subject. Sometimes it's just for attention.

Stemming from this, it's probably more along the lines of being "simply clever". For instance, you and your friends might be watching an episode of Family Guy. While watching this, the show brings up a classic tv show joke, from which you remember. In full knowledge that your friends know nothing of the subject, you spout out a random quote that's distinctly related. Your friends laugh half-heartedly at first, and then they all slowly start to get it, and think it's a very stale, retarded joke.
Also, Family Guy is the first show ever that relies on flashbacks every 30 seconds in order to keep the series looking fresh.

I quite enjoy those people, they keep you thinking. Sure, if they spout out "LOL SPORK" or some crazy shit like that, then no. But who the fuck are you kidding? No one actually talks like that. Usually the appearance of randomness is just an illusion on the part of the moron who is either too intellectually incompetent to understand the joke, or they simply lack the knowledge to understand the joke, the latter of which is forgivable.

i hate it when people actually claim that they are random.
cummon. if someone was genuinely random...they wouldn't go round telling everyone about it.
i think everyone can be 'random', say things at random times and confuse everyone.
it's not funny when it's deliberate though

Random is why I stay out of mass convos on MSN. Everyone is like o hey its mcjesus oh hey its someone else. Then it evolves into cocks, then into spam. I've left long before then.

Yep, many people that claim being random are just some 14 years old who don't know how to reach other's attention, since they fail at being mature and making good posts. Just ignore them, they will stop. And if they claim being "funny", well they're not. Sometimes it can be funny, but most of the time the stuff they post is either out of context either just moronic.

Thats your opinion. My type of random is that I might accidently say A word or 2 of what I'm thinking about, And since most people at my school are immature brats they instantly 'ROFL'. You could be nicer.

People will attempt to act random if they can't normally make people laugh.
For instance:
"Why'd the chicken cross the road!? TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE!"
*No one laughs*
"Uhhh... COCK HER SPANIEL!"
They hope that the above remark will result in laughter.

Last year I think is when it stopped being funny, right at the start of the grade 10 school year. I was never one to make statements involving colors and nouns, but I seemed to think when someone said anything along the lines of "ORANGE GOATEE" I'd laugh.
Sarcasm seems to be the "in" thing right now.
Random is such a terrible descriptor. The nature of random isn't anything along the lines of spewing out Family Guy jokes. There's no real way to act in a random fashion unless you had every nerve impulse hooked up to a random number generator, and pulsed at random times, for random lengths. That would be a funny sort of random, in a sick sort of way.

Yes, that is true randomness, but this a bunch of kids we're talking about here. Their definition of "bein' random, lol" is entirely different than a logically thinking man's definition. Sort of being stunningly off-topic is what made it so popular last year and the year before that. Actually, i kinda took the excuse to rag on Family Guy because it follows the same pattern: A simplistic plot, regularly interrupted by off-topic innuendo and pointless information. Kinda like telling your friend a long story, and then your other friend pops off with something that's so far from everyone else's train of thought that they find it funny. But by no means do i define such behavior as a episode of Family Guy, it's simply a example.
