No, I just don't like installing applications that I don't blatantly need. Can somebody find me a script? I know I sound like a broken record player, but.... well...

Hi, I really need some help here. I was making an image in Photoshop CS4, and I thought that it would be nice with some beams/sunburst or something, so I innstalled a custom shape set downloaded from DA (link).
I added the shapes, but when I zoomed in or saved the image, this happened!
:The image that is zoomed out is the 'correct' one.

What in the world shold I do? HELP! The shapes worked perfect in CS3...
And I have tried to flatten the image too...

well... that's it i have here, but i'll do my best.

And I have tried to flatten the image too...

How so? through the rasterize option?

The toolbars shouldn't have changed too much in the version, so check out the options below. The first creates a shape mask (which i assume you're using).
The second one creates a path equivalent, from there you could use the path window to stroke/fill path.
The third paints directly to the canvas. Try this one, see if you get the same error.

I used to use (lol) CS3 with my wacom, but the brush wasn't smooth at all, but when I switched to CS4, the problem was gone...

i know it's not wacom's fault. fuckin Adobe monopolized the whole design field and now their products are turning to shit

yeah, it's become so bad that i have the file preference utility on my quick-bar.

The general idea is to close the program, delete *ALL* the preference file thing, then reset it. All while ONLY using the tablet pen.
it's got a 50-50 success rate.

i asked on Wacom, and this is the roughly the advice i got. i'll ask over at Adobe next.

it's mostly superstition.

Is there any way to change brush smoothing setting on flash mx. I use my bamboo but the lines are always rough and jagged.

Easy, when you click the brush tool, then go to the bottom of the page where it says properties and you should have the option of smoothness. Fiddle with the number until you get the desired effect.

Also, I was looking at this first page, and the prices for the software might be a bit innacurate. For most of us, we are elgible for the student prices. When I first got flash (mx), it only cost me $100 because I'm a student. I'm sure that photoshop and the other programs offer the same deal.

No, it's exactly the same. The properties panel gives you the options for what ever tool you have selected. So, select the brush tool and the smoothing option should show up.

I have an important question.

In flash, you can continually do ctrl+z to undo stuff. In Photoshop though, if you undo then undo again, it'll undo your last undo, thus creating a loop that makes ctrl+z pretty much useless unless you want to undo a single action.

Is there a way to make it so it won't undo the previous undo so you can use ctrl+z as you would in flash?

I believe it's in photoshop's general preferences, it says History States: ## (mine is set to 20).

Well, that only changes the number of undo's saved. You can access more of them from the history panel.

should be window>history

i think it's coded to toggle so you can see if it's better before or after a filter. like at the eye doctor "One, or two? A, or B?"

I like the pixely feel of paint better than my photoshop 5.0 elements paintbrush. So I use paint. The problem is, when I sketch I usually tap my pen or pencil down alot, but when I do that with my bamboo fun, it registers it as a "double-click" and and I don't get desired results. Help?

to go back further than 1 undo, use the step backward command directly under undo in the edit tab or press ctrl alt Z. it won't take you back an unlimited number of times but it's at least a good 12 steps.

can't you just draw in very low resolution in photoshop for the same pixely feel?

what operating system are you using? I used to have vista and there was a wacom task in the task bar with loads of options. If you see this try tweaking some settings

So...in Illustrator, I've created a shape, and I want to cut off the edges. I'm not sure if there's another way to do this, but I want to give it a stroke, the somehow cut away the stroke along with the part of the shape that was covered by the stroke...if that makes ANY sense.

Anyways, I don't know how to do that. I've provided a picture to explain what I want to do. Any help would be much appreciated!

Well, I solved my own problem. The solution?

Hold ALT (Windows) or Option (Mac) and then click the Subtract from Shape button in the Pathfinder palette as illustrated below!
