There are things that we can't post on the NG BBS and things that we don't want others to see. That is why we have our private forums. Besides, having our own forum makes us look more organized :)

Yeah, it is kinda useless. The Guestbook is more effective in a way. I'll still keep it just for the hell of it.

actually last time I checked the FAQ (before today) I thought it stated that the old commissioner was in charge, but now that I look at it nothing that I can see needs to be changed, I think I must of read it wrong or it was already updated before i posted. That would ultimately rest on the Commissioner and/or Unit Ops. Theoretically, either of them have equal say on who passes and who doesn't. It all comes down to who responds to the request first. Regular members don't have the authority to decide whether or not someone's in or not. Quite frankly I find it annoying when people do that since they don't run the crew. On the other hand, anyone can take the liberty of inspecting someone and make a suggestion for us, but as I said earlier the final decision is up to me and Tangent.

There's a good reason the staff doesn't: immaturity. Half or more of General would edit their first hundred or so posts to "cock shit ass balls fuck hell dick pussy" or something like that after they reach a posting milestone (like 2000, or higher). It would be so easily abused.

Also, say I quoted one of your posts, and you later found a legitimate reason to edit it. While editing, say you changed the actual content of the post. I would then have to go back and edit my post too, to fit with your new post. And what if someone quoted me? Then they would have to edit too. It would be too much hassle to keep up with.

On Proboards and Invisionfree boards, you can edit and delete your posts, it's real helpfull if you forget to add something, but yeah, some people abuse it.

Chances are that forum's not quite as large as NG, or has a different sort of userbase. NG has so many spammers, trolls, and just complete idiots (the largest of the groups) who would change their posts. And they would find a way to abuse even a 10-minute time limit for an edit button. It's kinda like socialism: it works in a small community like a village, but when the community gets too large, like a nation, it stops working as well.

i agree there should be some kind of ranking like the whistle satus but in order to prove to people in charge of giving you permission to use the edit button they would have to look through all your past posts to make sure that they aren't obnoxious of immature or things like that, so in other words it would be a lot of work for mods of staff.
