Yea hmmm... *looks at post times* you were only 5 hours late there Tails.

I almost thought it was gonna pass, cause no one in the PD or the EGB responded to it. It has about 200 views before it got marked. Hopefully I'll get my gold whistle soon and then I'll have more weight in flagging stuff.

Well apart from the fact that most spam has seem to have died off. Don't know whether that is due to most students being in exams or what, I know there was a few flashes the other day but not as many as there is usually.

Maybe they have finally learned.....Or maybe they are planning an attack! We shall see!

Erm....Nope. Just keep looking out for those flashes which have the "MyBrute" thing and open up a new tab. Also, keep your eye open for spam. They are either getting really clever or not submitting!

I'm not sure what to do with flashes like these. Unless permission is given from the actual creator I suppose it is technically stealing, right? I'm going to flag it with that as my reasoning.

No-one knows. But it takes 50 abusive reviews to be deleted to get from Normal to bronze. We know that. We know nothing more.

Depends on how often you flag somthing as abusive. If you flag X as abusive 4 times, then it gets deleted, you get 4 whistle points.

I'm willing to assume that flashes that are whistled arent the same as abusive reviews, probaly worth more.

Good call, although I'd like to point out that being 'spam' in-and-of-itself is not whistle-worthy. This particular one is, but because it's nothing but a shock picture.

Just so you know: unless it directly breaks one of the rules mentioned in the descriptions of the different whistle options, or if it's a resubmission without any changes made, it probably shouldn't be flagged (there are exceptions, though).

Don't. It's quite possible that the author is trying to trick users into thinking that the flash is stolen when it's actually not, so that the users who flagged it will end up losing whistle points and possibly get demoted a whistle level. Just because an author says that his/her flash is stolen doesn't necessarily mean that's the case. If you want to report flashes here, you MUST, and I mean MUST MUST MUST provide incontrovertible proof that it is abusive. If you can't do that, then don't waste our time with skeptical accusations because I'm extremely strict on this crew's whistle policy.

No one knows for sure, not even the admins because there's no way to indicate how many whistle points one currently has. There are estimates but I forgot where to find them. I'm pretty sure it takes more than just 4 successful flags->deletions to get a bronze.

Exactly. If you read our FAQ page, you'll know that spam is not against the rules since it's not considered abusive. Therefore, we'd appreciate it if you only reported submissions that were blatantly against portal rules. See the whistle status section to get the criteria for abusive material. I reiterate, spam does NOT call for a whistle.

I was wondering if the same applies to flashes that were deleted by Wade.

Also, if the account that submitted the flash gets deleted (and all the flashes go with it), only for the flashes to be re-submitted again with a new account, is that enough of an abuse of the system in itself to warrant using the whistle?

I'm wondering because pretty much all of the worst spam has been deleted before (in one way or another), so if we can make a record of which eulogy entry goes to which recurring spam submission, would we be able to use it as a reference list whenever the same spam flash gets submitted again?

Yes. If no changes or improvements were made to the flash whatsoever then it's considered abusive. I'd probably classify it as 'malicious'.

Yeah, I believe it would be flaggable. After all, Wade must've deleted it for a reason, right?

Good question. Personally I'd say no if the new account acknowledged that the original flash was from his old deleted account so that there's no confusion.

That actually sounds like a pretty good idea! If we can get this idea off the ground, I'll definitely add it to the HQ site - will credit of course :) We'll need a broad cooperative base in order for it to be effective but I'm sure the NGPD's up for the task. While we're on the subject, I'd like to remind everyone that when reporting resubmitted flashes, it is ABSOLUTELY mandatory that you provide the link to the eulogy of the previous submission - NO EXCEPTIONS. The author "admitting" that it was previously blammed isn't good enough because some john doe online is not reliable intel. It's really annoying when people report flashes here and don't even provide sufficient evidence or explanation as to why it's abusive. Kinda makes baby jesus cry, ya know?

No but if you voted 0 on a spam flash while it was under judgement and it then gets deleted, you get your blam points.

I was more thinking about those accounts that get deleted BECAUSE of the flashes they submit (read: chris beer, duck division, some faggot-federation accounts etc.). If those ones re-appear and submit the same flashes they were deleted for, is that a flaggable offense?

I think it could work as long as the descriptions of the flashes are as detailed as possible. Without the details, there's no way of comparing the eulogy entry to the flash in question (to decide if it is the same flash again, or if it's different enough to fall outside the 'resubmissions' rule).

I think any list entries like this one are best kept to the NGPD forums, where the abusive spammers can't see them (if they were publicly viewable, they'd know exactly what to change in their flashes to make the list useless).

Speaking of which: I finally made an account on the forum there, but apparently it needs to be verified or something. How long does that normally take?

That video is literally older than the internet, so (technically speaking) none of the internet-based copies of it are 'original' anyway. Which link would you use for it? The oldest one you can find, or just any that show the video in its entirety, and that have the original credits on it?
