It doesn't seem too great..The sound quality is really bad, aking it quite hard to hear what's going on.
But if you want to spread it around, maybe post it in this thread.

Happy Caturday, gaiz!

Over in the fine state of Michigan, I had to cancel a date because of inclement weather. The same GF had a migraine, so I suppose she's better off at home. But, that's out of my control. I wish I could help her, but I cant.
What about you guys, anything goin on?
Also, can any Opera users stand up? I had a bit of porn-related issues with Firefox, no reason to go into it, but I heavily dislike Safari, and I've never trusted IE. I heard about Opera, but I havent heard much about it. Does anybody use it?
I've been in the portal all day today, and I've picked up over thirty blam points just today, I've also gathered nine saves. Two of the blams were FFF submissions, and they were both the final vote for them to be removed, so that felt good. I'm also on the verge of reaching Police Sergeant, so I'll hope to make it before the next roster, it's only sixteen more B/Ps until I reach it, and I have two days to do so.

Fuck, you're gonna be out of here by the end of the week!
:P
Congrats on the Near lv up, though.
Im about 8-9 days away from Leveling up (Exp points)
It turns out that I won't be getting the rank-up today, or at least I won't know if I've gotten it today. I need just eight more blams or protects to reach it, however it's gone midnight here it Britain and I don't feel like staying up much longer.

What has Safari ever done to you, Huh? But I agree with you on the IE distrust. I would like to know more about this Opera thing too, I've never heard of it. Right now I'm running safari which is immensely better than IE. Never had enough of a problem to try out another browser though, and this is Newgrounds, any porn related issues must be gone into once hinted at

I've never been a huge fan of Apple in general, so I suppose that it's just by extension. But, after testing Opera, Im diggin it. Barring the lack of the Newgrounds skin and stuff NG related I had on FF. But, to any Opera users, pick up the Ninja Ropes widget. It's pretty fucking fun.
And to the porn issues, I downloaded some "questionable" torrents from a link on /b/. It jacked my Firefox, so I uninstalled it and deleted a bunch of infected files. Havent had that issue with any other browser, even after I changed the default. HAPPY NOW???
This is Sergeant MwMike, reporting for duty. Yep, that means I can sexually exploit all Police Officers whenever I like. Sadly, the Lieutenants and Captains can do the same to me still.

A similar thing happened to me (not via torrents though, through a FF extension), which caused Firefox to crash and then shut down seconds after the Addons window opened. I uninstalled Firefox and used Chrome for a few days, though I really disliked it. I decided to reinstall Firefox, and see if that would work. It worked completely fine, so I promptly removed Chrome and started using Firefox again. You should try reinstalling it, too, if you haven't done so already.
And I, too, have had some previous experience with Chrome. I preferred it to most browsers I had tried, though I still like no other browser as much as I do Firefox.

You'd do well to remember that, boy. I think it may be about time for a... reminder.

Sexual indiscretion aside, I did try that, and, after not being able to open or close firefox, I tried to end the process with Task Manager, but it told me that Access was denied. Maybe in a few weeks, Ill try to re-install it. Im actually pretty happy with opera, it's not as customizable as FF, but it's not bad at all. It's certainly a pleasant alternative to it, after all.
Ok, please pardon my technological ignorance, but you've gone and gotten me confused. Is Chrome the same as Opera, or is it an entirely different browser. I do understand what you mean when you say that you dislike Apple, in my opinion all they can do properly are iPods and Safari. I must try this FireFox when I get my own computer at the end of the year

I should also mention that I meant the end of the school year, which is sometime during June

Ah, sorry to confuse you. Chrome is an entirely different browser to Opera. Chrome is pretty new, and is property of Google, and Opera has been around for a while, and I have no idea who own them.

Google sponsers them, but Opera is it's own company. And it's faster than Safari and IE.

Alright guys, I know I'm still technically on probation, but that shouldn't stop me from sharing this with you.
Trojan Horse Spam. This shit is getting a lot more commonplace, so I'd like to give you a heads-up.
The first time I encountered it, somebody made a kind-of tribute presentation about the band Three Doors Down. Had bio's, album discographies, and even compressed songs of theirs to listen to. I passed it, and even wrote a review on how he could improve it. But he responded like any spammer would, "Fuck you faggot" or something like that. I check back, and he had changed the entire submission to a racist spam submission. Title, icon, author's notes, everything.
This seems to be getting a lot more common-place, and I'd like you to take the time to watch for the signs.
Most recently, there was a Banjo Kazooie tribute flash in a very similar format. It wasn't hard to discover, however, the author had history in a spam crew.
I alerted RageVI's abusive reviews thread to keep an eye on it at a risk of being wrong, but it turned out I was right. The spam passed judgement, and raked in about three or four abusive reviews.
My point is, we shouldn't be reaping benefits off the spam flashes. Instead, we should stop them before they have that opportunity. Not by mass-voting, but by having the judgement to make the right vote. We're high enough levels and have enough additional incentive to possibly make a difference.
If you suspect a trojan spam flash:
First: Check the author's past flash history for any signs affiliating themselves with a spam crew.
Second: Read the Author's comments. If it's their first flash and they are serious, they'll usually talk about it being their first...even though it's evident that they have no others.
Third: Keep an eye on it while it's under judgement. I don't know if they have until it passes to swap .fla's or what, but there's gotta be a way to stop this.
More-over, are there any administrators or moderators we can contact if we spot a trojan flash that somehow passes? Is it possible for the NGPD to coordinate with them?
Here is proof of what this flash was before passing judgment, and after.
Spammers are getting sneaky...so it might take just a little more effort to blam and protect.
I hear they're (The admins) debating about Portal Mods.
So, dont get too worried about it, it's not going without notice.

Well, it's not so much of a worry as it is an opportunity for the NGPD to get involved in something new? I'm not familiar of NGPD's past operations or activities, but I'd say this could give us something to look out for.

It's been a real long time since I've last seen talk like this; brings me back to the days of the BB. But other than whistle points and reporting file swaps to the admins, we don't have much jurisdiction over the portal. However, I still highly encourage available units to keep a vigilant watch and report any fraudulent submissions. Who knows? We might make a good name for ourselves.
I guess in retrospect, that last statement kinda reinforces your notion of us trying something new. I'm not gonna lie, I'm starting to like this phobo guy.

It is truly amazing the lengths some people go to for attention, but now I believe it's gone being the basic attention seeking behavior. I think that most spammers are just doing it to be malicious, taking pride in being able to one-up the admins. This is looking more like a war every day. We need strong leaders (I'm not saying we don't already) at a time like this, and these rumoured portal mods could be our saving grace. Depending on who is chosen to fill those positions we could witness the revitalization of the Flash Portal

Well, I could see them picking members as mods, but Maybe if the new mods worked in tandem with the NGPD, then we could have some sort of fluid destruction of spam soon.

Revitalization starts at our own hands, though. Why do we need a group of moderators to watch each and every little thing that comes through the portal? We have the power, they just have more of it. If we're to make a name for ourselves, shouldnt our name come from the pride that we're active in keeping the portal spam-free? Obviously, we cant mass-blam due to general opinions of those who enjoy the spam and Tail's own rules about Mass-Voting, but that's not to say that 1 vote doesnt change. We dont need mods, we need people to understand that spam is oft little more than a waste of time between the Animator and the User who watchs it. If you want to sit in front of the computer and watch some sickness-inducing flash about some disturbing sexual fetish, then go nuts. 5 it. But for people that see as I see, blam the fuck out of it. Creating mods will be the first step towards dictatorship, unless they're checked against destroying something that the general public liked. There's a myriad of possible solutions, from Mass-Blamming to playing around with the Under Judgement requirements. Modding people to run the portal smoothly is not one of them. It's going to create another level of control that we'll have to call the Admins on.
Portal mods, huh? Does anyone have any info on what exactly such a mod would do? Correct me if I'm mistaken, I'd figure they'd have the ability to ban users from submitting flash (although spammers typically aren't above employing alts) and deleting submissions.
It would be nice to have some of us become portal mods. Unfortunately, I'll bet that the higher ups are gonna seek only for users well above police ranks - assuming they DO choose to follow through with this portal mod thing. However, ex-NGPD'ers like Rohan could stand a good chance so there's something to look forward to.

Lol, lemme through my hat into this debate. My stance remains the same as it was when this issue last arose; while in theory the portal mod system could work, I am sure the admins would be wary of handing that much power over the definitive part of NG. While I'm not saying that any such mods would abuse their powers or make bad calls, allowing a regular user to have so much control of the Portal may not be a good thing.
What I suggested a few months ago was that A (i.e. one, no more) admin was appointed as a full-time Portal guardian of sorts. I know that Wade occasionally purges the Portal, but with everything else he does he cannot be expected to be omnipresent with regards to this. However, if there were an admin whose sole purpose was to delete spammy flashes, and deal with flagged submissions (which at a rate of 2-3 flagged flashes a day must really pile up on Wade, to the point where they may just be left to sit in limbo) I feel that Portal maintenance and protection would become 100 times more regular and efficient.
The debate rages on...

Why one user? Should it have to fall to one user's opinion on whether or not something is spam?
Im not trying to state that Wade's role is simple, but Regular Users differ from Admins in just that. We're here by choice, they're here for employment. That's the problem with the Portal Mod system, that ultimately, its up to the mods choice. Certainly, Admins are going to hunt for the most responsible user, or, barring that, just pick one of their own to do it. But then what? Who's part of the site will suffer because they have to keep constant vigil over the trash? If we were to have a portal mod system, we should set it to 5 mods. 1 person contacts the mods with a flash that is believed to be spammy. The submission in question goes to "Administrative" Review, and the mods each view it and cast a vote for whether or not it's spammy. Then, it's released back into the Under Judgement stage. No ties, no conflict of intrest, and all Wade has to do is re-release it back into the portal.
Thats only hypothetical. :D
Crusher117 is right, we have to let it be up to the individuals' choice to blam, but we have to have the judgment, as I said before, to make the right vote regarding spam submissions.
I propose we "spam-profile" users. Look at people like Snaws before all of his work got deleted. He had, what, 52 spam submissions in a matter of two months? Look in the spammer-in-questions' flash submission history. If they all got titles like "FUCK YOU N***ER!" and "DD are Faggots" or the likes, what do you think they make?
Once again, this is in no way mass-voting, as barely any of us seem to be online at the same time to coordinate one in the first place. Use common sense when viewing flashes in the Flash Portal, and obviously check back every once and a while for the Flagship Spam which are proudly emblazoned in brackets.
To me, those are like turkey shoots...but they still somehow pass anyway.
If we can bundle up, and put all of those blam/protect points to use, make it more of a head-hunting game....every man for them self can try to down spam on their own. No coordination. No alert. Just act. Do this "by the book"
If it's just a crappy sprite flash, or a lame short animation, we kind of have a sort-of moral obligation to drop a review on how they can make it better. We have time...it's not like those Under Judgment flashes shuffle along quickly.
But if it's hateful, obscene, effortless, repetitive spam? Something that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt does not belong on the portal?
Simply, Act.
