Get your hands nice n sweaty, it makes it a bit easier for those GRY/YBO chord changes.
The sweaty tactic has worked, as I have finally beat it.
It wasn't so much the chords (even though they were a problem) it was the beginning with the single G Y B notes repeating over and over again. Even with the aid of easy hammer-ons and pull-offs, it was still a major arse ache.
As a bonus, it also gets your hands nice n sweaty.
Bonus!!

yeah, it is weird, it's the same with the number of the beast - the intro is just awkward.
No kidding. I would watch my rock metre fall, and I couldn't understand what I was doing wrong. The "notes" appear to move a fraction every time a new set come along; completely throwing you off course.

I've had this problem as well. On easy and medium, it's not bad to play, but then on hard mode, it seems much much tougher. A few other songs have been like that on the game such as the one by Weezer and Smashing Pumpkins.
Oh yeah, My Name is Jonas really got me, too. As did QOTSA's 3's and 7's.
Now, thankfully, apart from Before I Forget, I now have a minimum of four stars on all songs in hard mode. I've started dabbling on expert, but am currently stuck at the first boss battle. Guess I'll have to wait until I become super cool on hard mode before I tackle expert again.
