So I recently bought Lost Odyssey and it has to be one of the best RPG's I've played since FF-VII. If you're looking for a new game to get I would recommend Lost Odyssey 100%. Anyone else love this game?

I purchased it yesterday and haven't gotten around to putting it in yet.

Looks legendary though, I'll get back to you sometime with how I like it.

It's a very sloppily constructed RPG. The leveling system is broken and flawed, the pacing is sluggish and amateur, and the main plot is derivative of poor stories. That being said I really enjoyed this game. Once you get to disc 4, it's a very fun game with a lot to do. Unfortunately, the first three discs are completely linear. A problem a friend of mine had is the lack of customization. By "maxing out" your characters, you make them identical to everyone else's maxed out characters, since you can always learn everything, and nothing prevents a skill from being learned.
The characters have cool and emotional histories, but the Gongora plot is retarded and stereotypical. He's one of the worst villains in recent memory.
A giant note for anyone starting into this game: once you get to the ship to Grand Staff on disc 2, BUY SHIELDUS AND BARRICADUS! Once you begin the meat of disc 3, they will be indefinitely unavailable, and you'll have to start over if you want that achievement.
Also, the opening cut-scene's Kaim looks way different from the Kaim of the rest of the game. This bugged the shit out of me.

I'm about twelve hours in on disc 2 and I'm having a love hate relationship with the game. For every well designed boss battle there are hundreds of strategy-less battles against the boring regular enemies. For every decent moment in the game that portrays real humanity or deftly deals with a heady topic there is a poorly written section that makes me feel embarassed to be watching it. Just when I get into a groove and I'm really enjoying myself as things ramp up the game decides to, out of the blue, change its pace for the next three hours.

It's a very decent game and there's plenty of enjoyment to be found, but it's only trying to preach to the choir. If you hate JRPGs in general or Final Fantasy X in partcular you're not going to be converted.

I don't think it could be said any other way. This basically sums up my feelings about it.

for some silly reason i bought this and I'm still on disc one..i've just been bogged down with other stuff.

i really liked the FF12 battle system...these turn based shenanigans is really BORING...worst part being the 15 second load time before every damn battle.

First game I'll be picking up when I get my 360 next month (God-willing). I've always loved the traditional turn-based games, so this has always appealed to me.

The only thing that bugs me is I hate a lot of the character designs, including the main characters.

FFXII is one of the greatest RPGs ever. Lumping this thing in close vicinity to that is a joke anyway. The load times don't bother me, though, because I play pretty patiently. Unless I'm trying to do something fast, then I just get angry when I get into fights.

besides all the really feminine dudes running around with their bellies exposed it was a great game

i guess ill finish lost odyssey ..only because i feel obligated now. those 1000 year dream stories are oddly the best part of it so far.

They're total downers. At first I thought they were really impressive, but then by like #7, I stopped reading them because they just made me feel like shit. The moral of each one is basically, "being immortal blows."

And, yeah. Vaan is a fag. The tragic thing about Final Fantasy XII is that it's cluttered with an overall unenthralling story and a cast of queers.
