Since this is a videogame forum, and since MGS4 is probably the biggest game of the year, I feel safe about making an official topic about it.

I think it'll be the greatest game of this generation, period.

At least they aren't being lazy and dropping the story and character development.

2008 is a good year for PS3 exclusives, some which include:

MGS4
Haze
LittleBigPlanet
Resistance 2
Killzone 2
Final Fantasy XIII (if we're lucky)

Am I the only PS3 owner not pissing my pants in excitement for MGS4. I mean it looks amazing. But I dont think its going to be something I will pick up right away, maybe rent it during the first week then make a decision.

Expect to wait a while to play it. With MGS4 being 50GB, it won't get ported to other consoles. Plus there are other things about this game that make it right for PS3 such as controller usage.

If it does eventually get ported, then that's probably a good two years before that happens.

Game looks amazing, I just wish all the gameplay footage from the demos actually showed a person of skill playing it. Everyone's just running out firing.

I'm glad to see the new camera, becuase frankly the other one was getting old. Splinter Cell did it right, and it seems MGS is catching on. Same with the basic crouch mechanic. Thus, we get stellar gameplay elements from Splinter Cell (Excellent stealth franchise), combined with the stories and characters of MGS insanity.

What more could you want?

I still like the old camera angle (except for that building where you have to knock out Raidenovich in MGS3. That was just horrible). I think they're letting people switch back and forth by tapping the R3 button(or some button that doesn't do anything except when you're aiming, etc.), though.

What more could you want?

I hope they edit the cutscenes to make a short movie of people whipping him around.

I think the only reason the Snake Eater song was made was in order to create parallels between MGS3 and James Bond. If you think about it, Snake Eater was almost an homage to the Bond movie archetype.

But..the PS2 Versions of MGS were good...so it can't be bad for the PS3.

The new camera was introduced in MGS: Portable Ops. It sort of works, but not much.

MGS3 is still one of my top 5 games of all time, and I'm hoping that MGS4 can capture the same storyline as MGS3.

Bumping this in case MGS4 gets a shitstorm of threads like Halo 3 and COD4. Also because it comes out in a little under 3 days, and making another thread seems wrong, given the purpose of this one.

THINGS TO KNOW.
- There are NO 90 minute cutscenes. The final one is about as long as MGS2's ending(including that boss fight in the middle), which was about 45 minutes long, and it's the longest one confirmed.

- It's not coming to the 360. Kojima has said he'd never do a direct port of an MGS game to the 360 and that he'd only work on a new project/game if it were to go to the 360.

- It's an unspoken rule now, but for the sake of reminding(and of fans), don't post spoilers.

- Snake is a way cooler and more complex character than Niko Bellic, Marcus Fenix, and Master Chief combined and made thirty thousand times more awesome than they are.
