Probably the best turn based rpgs for the gba - if not the only good ones.

Anyone agree?

My one friend likes those games a lot, but I've never gotten a chance to play either one. I was too busy with Fire Emblem while he was playing them... I should really try them though.

Why does Fire Emblem get tons of games on Nintendo consoles, yet GS only has two games for the GBA?

I had the first golden sun - it was magnificent, if not a wee bit too long.

I beat the first Golden Sun 100% and never looked back on it again because all those Djinn took forever to get.

The second one I couldn't get through. But they're both fantastic games.

Some companies just find it necessary to sell themselves out on one game series as much as possible, others just make a game or two, then move on.

I would highly suggest it, especially if it's really cheap.

I haven't found anything better for the GBA.

I've just started playing the first one again.

The only problem that I have with Golden Sun is that characters don't automatically target the next available foe after their target has been defeated.
They just sit there defending.

AMAZING games. I had picked them up for sale a while after release, never even heard of them before. Both for $30 I think it was, so I figured why not, right?

I was in awe about a half-hour later. Another one is desperately needed. New installment, Hell, I'd take a remake. Anything!

(On a side note, it was a pleasant surprise to see Isaac as an assist trophy in Brawl. I was really hoping for a GS character back when the the roster was still a secret).

Awesome games. I managed to finish the first one, but I lost interest in the second one at some point and gave up. I should go back and try it again at some point.

HEAR HEAR

The Issac assist trophy is L to the OL, because the Force basically anally rapes you to the edges unless you're a light character or have an extremely good recovery ability.

That's why you predict something is gonna die... so you don't HAVE to have that happen :|

Fire Emblem is an idea... like Final Fantasy, all each game requires is some sort of important element that happens to be named the Fire Emblem, though the games normally do have their charms (at least the GBA ones did, and a shit load of charms at that).

As for GS, all they can do is make a DS one with even prettier graphics that allows you to directly transfer from The Lost Age and one that ends up finishing what always looked like it was going to be a fucking trilogy, ESPECIALLY with how the 2nd one ended, one that left it completely open to a direct and beautiful sequel... or of course, they could possibly greatly expand the world formed by alchemy and allowing further games to be created *shrugs.* I just want the fucking sequel.

The best original turn-based RPG on GBA, since some classics were re-released onto it. The graphics are incredible for its time, the story diverges a bit from cliche, and the combat is original and fun. Just when you think nothing is more awesome than shooting a giant flaming sword at your enemy (with nothing but standard magic, by the way), in comes the summon of Thor. FUCKING THOR!!! It almost makes Ivan not totally useless...

Ah, the memories. I never really got that deep into Golden Sun 2, though, but I like how it picked up literally right where the last one left off. Not enough games do that.

And yet, it was totally opposite, it allowed you to view and play as 4 "brand new" characters. Sure only 1 was introduced in The Lost Age alone, but you never REALLY played as Jenna (Sol Sanctum at the beginning of Game 1 doesn't really count :P).

Also, i'm always just saddened that people don't credit the job and Djinn systems of the game, it was amazing the type of fucking jobs you could be and how deadly some were, ugh.

I mean, i looked this up on the forum because JUST TODAY i bought Game 1 again, i lost my old one from forever ago, and will gladly replay, and then, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, play #2 again... though i'll tell you, i am NOT looking forward to ever having to exploit the RNG generator as much as i did ever again... the god damn thing took AGES... but hey, when you end up with 8 level 99's all with flawless equipment... you feel good inside.

Yeah, I meant that the story picked up at the same spot. And that's another thing, actually, that's great about the game. The characters were complex, something that you don't often see in RPGs. Felix is good...no wait, he's bad...no wait, he's good :P Every playable character and most major NPC's seemed unique and fully fleshed out.

Also, i'm always just saddened that people don't credit the job and Djinn systems of the game, it was amazing the type of fucking jobs you could be and how deadly some were, ugh.

Yeah, I kind of credited the Djinn in my other post. I don't really remember the jobs that much, though.

Hmm....I kind of want to break out the old GBA again, but that game is long as hell.

Djinns were the basis of jobs, you mixed up your characters main element with other djinn's elements and ended up with a beautiful array of new and cool abilities.

Hmm....I kind of want to break out the old GBA again, but that game is long as hell.

You're god damn right it is... but if you wanna mess with jobs, arena in The Lost Age is as far as you need to look *shrugs.* The main ones were normally the best (Can't top Odyssey... you just can't) but i'll tell you what, fucking around with Ninjas and Masters (I believe those were the names) is nothing but fun, and of course, you get to see more of the moves that monsters and enemies never used, some like Head Splitter (it popped in my head as something i should mention hehe) are just downright fun to see.

I remember reading an interview with the creator of Golden Sun shortly after the sequel was released. When the question of a Golden Sun 3 came up his response basically amounted to "I dunno, maybe, but probably not." What a fucking kick to the balls. How can you have ended Golden Sun 2 the way it ended and not immediately want to show the fans how the story ends?

I agree, they had yet to explain a lot about Ivan origins. Such as, what is that floating city nearby Ivan's homeland. They could develop an entire fucking story with it >:(
But are they? I think not :(
There's a lot more than that, but it's been about 2-3 years I played it and I can barely remember.

Oh, and I got every djinn in both games :)

Well there is this. It'd seem the only thing stopping Camelot from making #3, and finishing off a trilogy that could easily stand the test of time is .... themselves. And the interview is pretty recent, he may have realized just how amazing and popular his world had become by 2007, while being pessimistic in 2003 where he said what you said he said :P.

Either way, i just hope they get around to it ... anytime, i'll live until it happens but goddamn it better, it'd be a disgrace to gaming if it wasn't completed, especially with such a cliffhanger ending, DID ALEX DIE?!?!?!? etc etc.

Imagine it as a Wii title though, or maybe a dual DS/Wii thing, that allows you to transfer data if your GBA slot has game 2 in it, hey, ya never know :)

YOU'RE RIGHT, BECAUSE FF IS THE ONLY WAY THAT ONE SHOULD ENVISION THE WAY AN RPG IS BASED OFF OF!!!!

I mean, wow is totally just FF but with ARTIFACTS and OTHER STUFF

and mario/luigi partners in time IS JUST LIKE FF, EXCEPT WITH PLUMBERS LOL.

Stop being a fanboy and recognize the fact that the GS duo is much better than most FFs out there, the only one i'd even compare it to in greatness are FFT/A, and 12. The others are below it, and those three simply are in its tier in my opinion.

But of course, i said, MY OPINION, gladly disagree but i won't back down on how brilliant the Djinn class system was, TO THIS DAY am yet to a better one, that allows so much customizability, with only 72 little fuckers to choose from.

They were excellent games...though I do wish that there was a simpler way to transfer your characters from GS to GS2 rather than the password thing. Hopefully if they DO make a new Golden Sun on DS, they'll do something similar to what Pokemon did, and do a simple transfer that way. Though that still means Camelot have to get around to doing it- we can only hope.

Hmm.. I saw a (possibly fake) pic of a Wii Golden Sun which was titled: "The Rod of Hesperia". If it was real then I guess it´s gonna be about Ivan and Sheba´s origins.

Also, they could still make one about Alex being almighty and stuff. I was hoping that you could fight that guy at some point in the game, but sadly you never can. It would´ve been awesome.

There was also a way to tranfser your characters by using a cable. The password system was pretty good though if you didn´t have the first golden sun. You could look up passwords on the internet, so that you could still get all djinns and summons on GS2. They should´ve made the golden passwords less long though... =/
