Death Metal, what's the appeal?

Greetings huddled masses.

I like most music. I can also understand the appeal of most genres that I dislike. But Death Metal has always made me wonder.

What is its appeal? Is there something I'm missing? Did the definition of "skilled musicians" changed to "really really fast drums and down-tuned guitars"? I just don't see any musical merit in it. I know there are exceptions (bands like Opeth and Death are really good and I enjoy listening to them), but bands like Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, and Dying Fetus seem like shock-bands with less musical talent.

So I'd really appreciate it if Ng's hardcore Metal Head community could help me understand why people enjoy this stuff.

The whiteman is a confused creature. We have to change what kind of music we like every ten years, and we've ran out of choices, so we've selected the ear bleeding choices of satan worshiping no talent fuck ups. The music itself sucks on so many levels, but since it is dubbed accecptable by the queen of the cracker hive, they're drawn to it. (by the way I'm a honkie so don't be hatin')

What can I say? I like the soothing bliss of a man gargling razorblades grunting about raping children and fighting zombies spewing up infected semen and such.

But seriously. I dig some death metal due to musical merit (so-so vocals on early albums aside, Cannibal Corpse are a pretty tight band) and some death metal for the sheer humour of the ridiculousness (Six Feet Under, with their awful lyrics).

I just have a tough time listening to anything other than what sounds like the cookie monster on Cannibal Corpse's albums.

That I'll agree with. But I don't need to listen to them when I can just look up the lyrics.

And for all you whiners out there, Death Metal is Made to get forth a certain Message.
Music can Cover any Aspect of life, It doesn't only have to be about love, or Peace, Or anything like that.

Music can be Dark too, We have art that covers the Macabre, why not Music as well?

And as for it being "Just Detuned Guitars Playing random stuff" It's not, It follows it's rules they use certain Scales, They Use certain Chord progression, It follows Music theory, and It has to Keep in time with the other instruments.

The Guitars aren't Detuned, They're DownTuned, To be able to Reach deeper notes, that a Standard tuned guitar can't, and If you say these notes are too Deep, You've obviously never heard a piano in your life ( I have a Synthesiser that goes all the way down to C where a Standardly Tuned guitar can only go to E, And Claviers and Grand Pianos can go MUCH further)

Now, the Vocals.

Don't argue about a Musical Genre you know nothing about, That just shows that you're an Idiot.
Most people Don't listen to Death metal, Or Like it, because It doesn't apply to them, Such an Angry and Unique type of Music is only for Angry and Unique People.

The Little kids you see around in Malls, about 13 or so, that listen to Some Mainstream Shitty -Core bands, Like Job for a Cowboy, Or any Metalcore, Those aren't metalheads, Those are Mallkids, Hated by True Metaheads.
