Oh hey basicsunshine-- chill the fuck out. You're not a bad artist at all. Much better than a lot of the people who waddle through this forum every now and then. But you have a much higher opinion of yourself than your art merits, and you talk down to virtually everyone who critiques your art frankly. Seriously, there are a lot of artists in this forum far better than you. So... basically what I'm trying to say is that you really ought to look at your drawings and paintings objectively. Compare them to other people's drawings and photographs. Like mindchamber said, it takes knowledge of anatomy to distort it-- work on proportions and form in your human figures. I think you'll realize, if you can view your pictures as something other than perfect, you'll see that you have some work to do :/

I want to know why you keep bringing up your school. Scrabbling at straws-- "But I go to P - G -S- A! My art HAS to be good!" Been reading your other posts in that other thread, too. "I'm not impressed." Clearly, you consider yourself a far better artist. Clearly, you think you're too good to even waste your time offering help. If you think art can't be self-taught, I'm a living example. I've taken two art classes in my entire life. Look at my deviantart if you want "proof." You talk about how you've struggled and fought your entire life-- fought what? struggled against what? What did you overcome, what ENTITLES you to be "a little pretentious?" No matter how great you might be (and frankly, you're not) humility is important. No one likes a snotty artist.

I really hate how this guy looks down upon anybody that creates art through film or by computer. I don't care much for his personality at all. That doesn't change the fact that this guy can make some really stellar paintings that look all types of professional.

My advice is to let basicsunshine be herself, she's not the first self-centered person to come through the forums and certainly not the last. So just deal.

I really hate to reference a rather popular person on the Art Forums, but I know UMREE loves leaving chastizing remarks on people's threads. I rather liked his landscape painting that he too had a link to in his sig for a while.

The point is it's okay to proud of something. Everyone that has posted something in here (and actually made it) has been proud of what they have done. I just don't see why basicsunshine is any different.

It is okay to be proud of something, but shes not "proud" of her work. She's implying its better than anyone else's, theres not one user in this art forum that has claimed they are better than another user, people may think it sure, but common courtesy usually prevents people from saying it, we're all equal here sunshine, like it or not.

Answere: Of course not. What I'm saying is leave the crits, and she bashes back then that's her business.

As was my life in the Army, you can either do the workout... or cheat yourself. Of course if you cheat yourself then you don't get stronger.

Let her cheat herself. Leave the crit, she'll wanna bash it but we leave it at that.

On a side note I don't care what UMREE said previously. I'm not on "his side," I just came here today and observed what I observed.
